You have to create a separate Steam account to to install the NS2 server.
You could use your own account but I'd recommend against it. -
What kind of script would you make on Linux to check if the server crashed?

Getting to play on a server is a privilege, not a right.
Opinions and morals aside, an admin can kick you if he wants, if you do not agree with this, take it up with them.

Wait, you're running two NS2 server applications on one physical server?
I guess the combined load might be causing the long loading times then.
What's the disk load during loading? -
I have this at odd times with power nodes, a black square will be on top of the module that's being "pushed" inside it until it's finished.

Mod appears to be broken now, always get "Server mod out of date" when joining a server with Shine Admin, even on server with shine just installed.

I have the same issue on and off with a 7950OC.
Not only in NS2 but also Dota 2, could be an issue with Xorg?
