I've found there's a few users with problems with ALL HL based games and ATi cards. I'm not sure when it started, but it means quite low framerates for the spec of your system (since going to ATi, I get 20fps or lower in Marine Spawns)
So, I'm drawing attention to two things.
One, the problem itself.
Two, two threads on steampowered that if you are also having problems, you may wish to have a look at.

^ - This one is by me, hoping to get a response from VALVe. They've noticibly viewed the thread, but not replied. Not a good sign, in my opinion.

^ - And this is the original thread. 85 pages by & large of random '1337' speak and flaming. But the original problem is in there.
It's off topic to general NS, but does affect a large number of users (hell, the 2nd thread is now 85 pages long!) so thoughts, opinions are welcomed.
PLEASE don't turn this into a 'OMG VALVe SUx0r0s!' thread, because I'm trying to approach VALVe with a sensible, reasonable approach, in the hope of a similar response.

I'm more trying to give some impression of the fact I am trying to approach VALVe reasonably, and basically being ignored. It becomes second nature, and is also why I find posting in the Steam forums something akin to wading through sewage.
also, are you adverse to reverting your drivers like ATI says to do, or did reverting your drivers not help? personally I think it'd be a worthwhile tradeoff...
I get good framerates with my 9600 pro though... latest drivers, I think... oh no, that's right, I'm using the omega drivers (http://www.omegacorner.com/)

Surely someone will at least reply to avoid the publicity? Or am I right in what I'm beginning to feel, that they basically hope if they batton down long enough, I'll go away?

I don't know much about your problem, but I salute your fine lingual calibre. Now, if only we could somehow replicate and then inject your genes into the forum masses that wouldn't know of grammar even if it defecated on their face.
