Marines With Alien Structures And Vice Versa?

I was mulling over an idea in the shower, just for test and if its possible I might atempt to learn to map to have a go at it.

I was playing a custom co map yesterday and the aliens had a TF and some turrets which the gorges could heal if the marines damaged them. One of my questions is Do marines buldings eg TF's turrrets and stuff when assinged to aliens inherit the healing over time settings or not?

Another thing is about a single play NS type thing. Would it say be possible to build 2 maps into the one. An alien path and a marines path. What im thinking is that you join the game and then there are 2 missions, marines and alines which you choose to play by joing a team. Say the marines have to fight there way to an onos or something. Now this is where my brain falls apart. WOuld it be possible to use the HL AI in an NS game, eg giving a computer controled skulk the AI of the head crab or something? Giving marines the AI of a marines from HL?

Is this possible or am I dreaming?

    I'm not really sure about the buildings. It could work or not, depending on the coding, and I can see that being either way.

    For single player NS. It would be possible for the missions to be handled in this way. AFAIK there is even an entity to handle this already in regular half-life. Map changes were handled by an entity that would direct the game to run the next map. A single player game could actually use one map as the ready room and have the alien/marine joins lead to a string of other maps that are geared towards those signs.

    Although it might be possible to adopt the half-life AI for ns, it probably isn't particularly worth it. There is too much that would have to be added for it to work. Most likely it would be better to try and get the programmers for any NS bots in on the project. In general single player natural selection would be hard to make in such a way that it still retained the "feel" of multiplayer NS.

    It could be because I have a hang over on mothers day, or this is one really dumb idea. The game has been designed so the Aliens have chambers and the marines have turrets (as defense/offense mchanisms). So do with the game as it is, don't try any funmap crap out. It will look a) bloody awful, b) show bloody awful mapping and c) will get you a bloody awful reputation

    Sounds like a server plugin

    No, you'd have to write your own mod (or server plugin maybe).

    Sorry to have an imagination and want to try new things. Think about it people have idea and make them. I mean comone who would have thought of a top down real time stratergy game in HL.

    Flyara thats who, and he made this wonderful game NS people have to try new things or **** doesnt happen. I dont have the skills to desing a mod, but I have an imagination Im sorry if this distrubs you.

    Aboutt the serve plugin , I asked the admin and he says "It just works I just put the map in the map folder and they worked" Im guessing just the team attrivute was modified. Heal spray is no different from a welder they both do the same things but only to their respective teams. (mind you slight difference welder only does armour)

    Bit of a bummer aboutt he AI though kinds screws the whole thing over <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> still I ight experiment jsut for a learnign exercise.

    The map was that atrocious co_3corridors map that has caused such a stir on these forums recently.

    Anyway, as to your second question, no, it would be impossible to implement skulks controlled by AI. This is because it would have to be included in the source code, not just the map, and i doubt Flayra wants to spend time reimplementing HL's AI just for a single "fun" map.

    Personally, ontop of this, i think it's an awful idea. Yes, NS is about trying new things, but i've said it in other threads, and i'll say it in this one... I play NS for the teamwork, strategy and the unique game that it is, that's how the game was designed and i see no need to try and create "fun" maps with "fun" and "different" gameplay which are nothing but substantially inferior to the core idea.

    Who knows, the AI could be getting worked on right now and we're gonna see an NS Singleplayer <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Small chance I know, but still possible.

    The gernral Idea was that there would still be team work but team work against AI not humans, along the lines of Sven Coop

    Also NS is not CO its Teamplay.
