good movie
I wish I woulda seen this one earlier, like in the theatres.

I was expecting it to be somewhat scary, but it really wasn't. Which is good cause you know how I am w/ that stuff. :P

Now I gotta find out about these Alternate endings I keep hearing about...

The movie was disappointing; I expected more attacks from the infected. There were like 2 whole "OH CRAP!" sections, which were not entirely frightening at all, just more like "That was a surprise."

The movies that rely on the "startle factor" of loud noises and sudden movements are always best seen in theaters, but those kinda thing salways scare me. I am high-strung as hell.

I think most people missed the point to the movie. It wasn't just about virus ridden zombies killing people (e.g. Resident Evil) it was more a statement of how potentially we could wipe ourselves out at any moment with our own arrogance and pig ignorance.

Me too AllUrHiveRBelong2Us.

And yeah DuBERS, I caught that point as well. Really near the end you aren't sure who the bad guys are anymore. :P

Oh that's what the message of EVERY zombie movie is. Zombies lend themselves to commentary on man's self-destructive nature because they are the most human mosnters one can think of, as they are merely dead people.

I loved the movie but didn't like the ending, I mean, -the whole world- should be zombified, not just the British

Briten is an island and the way that infection works there would be no way in hell it could spread all around the planet.

That was the whole idea of direct fluid transfers and the inability for the dead to make intelligent motor actions- such as driving a boat- to transmit it to other places in the world.

Alright. Can someone tell me what the storyline was? I had absolutely no idea what it was about (even the ending, I didn't get). It was greatly confuzzling.

Virus gets released, zombies kill lots of people, guy wakes up from month-long coma, joins with several survivors to get out of the big city they are in, they meet the remnants of some military outfit, they army guys go all insany and try to kill/rape everybody, survivors kill army guys, remaining survivors move to cabin in the mountains (presumeably free of zombies).
• LikuLiku I, am the Somberlain. Join Date: 2003-01-10 Member: 12128Members
They're not Zombies if they think. Besides, they're the "infected." Zombies are, the "dead."
• Smoke_NovaSmoke_Nova Join Date: 2002-11-15 Member: 8697Members
The Infected aren't really zombies, namely because they run like Olympic class athletes all the time.

28 Days Later had a much bigger scare factor then any other Zombie-style movie i've seen because the infection time was about 6 seconds, and any amount of direct fluid contact can infect you.
• AllUrHiveRblong2usAllUrHiveRblong2us By Your Powers Combined... Join Date: 2002-12-20 Member: 11244Members
Well it's more convenient to call them zombies instead of "The infected" all the time, since they still act like zombies in most respects. They eat flesh, don't die easily, and are almost completely instinctual.

i loved it

wish i could have seen the alternate ending.. any short clips of it anywhere on the internet?

and the infected are too unsubtle to get anywhere off the island [britain]... in the end they just starved to death.

for the record, i believe the "bitten > infected" time is around 30 seconds... which is odd because at the start, its only around 5-9 [the labrotory scene]

you could come up with excuses like "it all depends on the level of infected-ness you are, its diluted and refers to pure rage etc" but it doesnt hold up

oh and yeah, they needed more survivors around [come on, only like 5-10 in the whole city?] and more infected attacks

It's funny, but I don't remember anything about the infected eating flesh, or eating anything for that matter, just ruthlessly and mercilessly beating and maiming anything non-infected that they came across. Their only all-consuming purpose was to kill.

the alternate endings weren't that special, 3 of them can be summerized by simply saying that instead of living, the guy died from his gunshot wound. The other one was kinda cool except that it was all penciled action scripts and poor naration (Ie, no actors) and it sent science to hell. I was under the impression that all DVD's shipped with the alternate endings.

Does anyone know the name of the band that plays that music during the scenes where he walks up to that thing in the middle with all those papers on it with missing people.
And in another scene where he get's followed.

Well it all depends on whether or not you want to use "Zombie" as a blanket movie term to describe anyone who acts in a zombie-ish manner, or to use the strict definition, which for the record would be:

1. A snake god of voodoo cults in West Africa, Haiti, and the southern United States.
A) A supernatural power or spell that according to voodoo belief can enter into and reanimate a corpse.
B) A corpse revived in this way.

2. One who looks or behaves like an automaton.

3. A tall mixed drink made of various rums, liqueur, and fruit juice.
