The wound after the final fight...
Hi!
Does anyone know how this wound is explained after Preston's final fight?
I didn't notice that Preston even got hit

You didn't notice it, but he did. The director explains it in the commentary on the dvd. There is no big conspiracty theory behind it or anything, he just got nicked off-camera or while you blinked or something.

Yeah its all the in the Director's Commentary - which is extremely boring, both of them, which is a shame because its such a great film.

Correction: The action is fantastic, but the other hour and 20 minutes is boring, hackneyed rubbish. They even killed Sean Bean. Fools.

He goes from his fight with the head guy to that control room, chances are he ran into a few more guards and got nicked in the neck.

I don't remember him getting hit at all, maybe in the last fight? No way he got that from the hallway/sword fight.

Thats what I was going to say. Supposedly there was going to be a longer/better fight between him and taye diggs at the end but the money ran out (obviously, it was kind've a cheap out). At least they didn't skimp after that though.

    Yea that..

And as said before if u watch the directors commentary they say that after filming the last gun fight between Preston and the Vice Council, (which the directors and producers wanted to be longer-- fight between Bale and Tay Diggs, and then with "father" but no money and the producing company would not give them any more)

Christian Bale (Preston) stated later after the shooting of the last fight that his character should have some minor wound at least after supposidly fighting off all the guards.

After he kills Father he goes on fighting his way around elsewhere. This is shown and hinted to the audience that he does more fighting when the doors open to the propaganda control room where the techs are writing up all that crap that is broadcasted to the people of Libria.

Preston dumps two dead guards bodies on the floor.
Hinting that he does do more fighting after after he kills father.

Well, just taking it from the film, it could be the little gun slap fight he does near the end of the film. One of the bullets could have grazed his neck. Sure, it doesn't actually show that until he gets into the room, but perhaps it was a graze, hence a slow leak!

Regardless of what the directors wanted in the film (but never put in), there is no instance in the film where the cut is explained in detail. One can draw his or her own conclusion about it. This is one of the nitpicks that really doesn't affect the plot of the film, and can be overlooked. Especially when the film stands so well on its own on a tight budget.
