    how about focus not adding more damage, but going through (non heavy) armor, without touching the armor values. Or something like 20%/40%/60% more penetrating.

    Of course, it'll have to be tuned for it not to be too powerful, as jp's and LA's would fall quite easily.

    edit: well so much for my flying by the topic, but I guess it's already been suggested

    If it ignored armor values then L3 Armor marines would still go down in two regular hits. I don't see how that wouldn't be overpowered.

    Absolutley not, I'm all in for reducing knockback and marine-supar-strafe-?ber-jumping. Though, I think that the game, at least focus is very focused and almost requeries an alien (except for onos) to use focus. And i think that this is even worse than D-M-S.

    Focus doesn't need a nerf, marines need to learn to upgrade to counter focus earlier.

    That was kind of my point. Under any other circumstances aliens can usually overcome Focus. With the JP/Resupply combo focus is REQUIRED. There is NO way to kill a talented JP/Resupplier without focus. Even Webs tend not to hold them long enough (they skill coast through the air for a second out of the 2.5 they are webbed). Talented JPers can avoid much of the webbing anyway.

    2 problems

    1: You don't base stuff off of chance. We want NS to be a strategic game, not a card game like magic the gathering. Infact, the LMG, HMG, pistol and shotgun shouldn't have random scatter patterns; I'v missed skulks because all the pellets went left instead of right before. Not good.

    2: Nerfing focus = bad. Sensory on hive 1 = me getting my rines to lock down hives 2 and 3, putting up obs and turrets, then going nuts with upgrades.

    Onos w/ no regen and no way of taking away the marine distance advantage = useless
    Fade w/ no cara, no regen, and hive 2 weapon = useless.
    Lerk with no umbra and no regen or cara = useless.

    The aliens get a great advantage in RT's, but they're **** outta luck if the marines get a 2-hive lockdown when they went with sense. Without a good focus attack, they'd be screwed.

    I don't like instakill weapons either.

    I'll have you know MtG has more strategy than just about any game I've ever seen. Admittedly a lot of it is about minimizing the random chance that is also present, but they give you the tools to carry out that task very well.
