Gamma Reduced When Going Back To Ns From Desktop

The Scenario
---------------
1. Entering a ns game from desktop in Steam
2. Alt+Tab from NS game to desktop and back to NS again
3. MSN Popup window OR any popup that appears on a ns game.


this are 3 which i remembered, when any of the 3 events occur, my ns game gamma will drop to lower level and usually it hinders my gameplay. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I am currently using a nforce2 chipset and using a ATi radeon 9800 pro on a Catalyst 4.3 driver.

    Very common problem, try one or all of the three solutions:
    a) alt+tab and come back in
    b) hit your windows menu key then click the HL taskbar button
    c) (the best one) simply hit escape and it should reset the gamma, if not hit escape then choose options, then go back to the game.

    Um... my solution is to just open and close the console... takes the least amount of time, even 'escaping'.

    There was a thing that came with 2.0 - "Reset gamma". Dunno what happened to it now with steam though.

    The reset gamma.exe is still in the nsp folder..

    How do you control whether the game runs in window mode or not? It automatically opens in window mode for me. It's generally better that way, but occasionally right after I die I end up moving the mouse outside the window and clicking on an icon, opening up another program.

    Would typing "gamma 3" in your console helps? I know it brings back the gamma level for me when I get that annoying MSN window .)
