an eSports revolution
For those of you that don't know about Amped yet, it is a new eSports gaming news website. We will be covering the competitive NS gaming scene and will also be focusing on the development and changes in NS as they arise. We will also feature articles from top NS clans and features on how to make it there. With your support, the NS division of Amped is hoping to strike a spark in the NS community to help not only bring in more people to NS, but also convert some of the hardcore pubbers to the competitive scene.

As part of the Amped staff, I am also looking for demos of any type of competitive play you may have for the latest version of NS. With the few demos we already have of Pandas matches and several Damage Networks matches, many people from other games have already taken an interest in NS. With your help, we would like to increase the popularity of NS. If you have any demos of this sort, please email information to me at Nira@new.rr.com with a brief description of them and information on how to contact you, or contact me on irc in #pandas or #amped on irc.gamesurge.net, my alias is pandas|raiN^amped.

Thank you for your support

All the cool kids hang there.

Really nice site. The forums seem to be getting bigger too - hopefully it'll keep getting a steady increase. The download speeds of the demos on the site is also awesome, maxed me out, 200kb/s.

I've tried to start my own demo archive @ http://www.txdb.net/brad/demos but amped has it laid out really nicely - def. worth checking out. Would be great if the community took advantadge of this oppurtunity / resource.

The best part is that you can make an account, upload your picture then spam the link to your profile all over irc!!!

Seriously though, this is a great site.

maybe in the future you could expand the NS site to UGL too. i know of several clans that play UGL exclusively.

maybe you could add a filesize column, and a 'key' so people know what games those icons stand for.

also it would be nice if there was a little help section just telling people what to do if they wanted to save or play a demo in each game.

Too bad it's exclusively US. There's no website in europe about NS that everyone knowns of.

I believe Amped is focused around CAL at the moment. You'd have to talk to rain about dealing with other leagues.

Europe! heh Good Luck! I haven't even heard of an NS sight that's Canadian... and we're their neighbours!!

There's a few rather big European NS sites, actually. Amped jumping the ocean would definetely rock

    Good luck, rain.

I only know "national" ones, and I'm leading one of them, but I don't know any europe-wide website talking about competitions, clans etc. Or maybe there is one and I missed it, in which case it would require some more advertising. :)

Nah, I was talking about nationals. The language barrier kinda makes Europe-wides difficult, I fear.
  • raiNraiN Unaffected... Join Date: 2004-03-04 Member: 27139Members, Contributor
We are possibly planning on expanding Amped-NS to other leagues besides CAL in the future. There is, however, a problem with going across the ocean, which nem already brought up. The language barrier is just too great, but don't be mistaken, we would love to cover some larger news for European NS teams, especially ones that compete in US leagues.
  • NaxoNaxo Join Date: 2003-04-10 Member: 15385Members, Constellation
Yes there's a language barrier, but still, most of NS players can read english, and there are more and more european leagues (uknsl premier league [which is european despite its name], ESL premiership soon, CB opencup, gg.es cup (?), ns-league, and some others I forgot). I believe there's some room for an european scene.

I agree. If you plan to go overseas, just keep it in english. Most of the people CAN read english. Eventually, it would be great if you had translators .

edit: just saw the demos area, it's great, but hitting the more button just brings you to a list of all demos from all games. Is there a way to just sort out NS demos?

I'm not saying it is impossible, I'm just pointing out why it's so difficult nobody did it so far. That's actually why I think an extended Amped at one point in the future could work - they won't have to pull the stunt from zero, they'll already have a basis on which to rely.

NIce site. The demos are organized in a great fashion, but won't they be pretty much outdated as soon as beta 4 and later betas hit?

Sadly, yea, thats what is going to happen. Hopefully they can label what version the demos are in to ensure that people do not download wrong versions.

Actually, under the demo information, it says the version. =O

    Heh. My bad.

Those articles you guys just put up are a really nice read. Good job
The predictions are kind of dated though, however

Predictions are only dated because the release date of Thursday was awkward for NS. THe coders had all the CS stuff up but were having trouble with the NS stuff, so we will definetly be on time for playoffs

But these are beta version, I doubt many keep beta 2's and beta 1's around. It's not like 1.04 or 2.0

What is exactly your point? Who keeps CS 1.0 around to view demos? or pre 1.5 tfc?
Not many. The demos are there to view them now, not to view them in 5-6 months. (hopefully there will be a way to make old demos of ns compatible for newer versions of ns)
