I'm using Sygate Personal Firewall (Google), it seems OK. I stopped using Zone Alarm because it kept on sending tiny, precious bits of data to somewhere without my permission.
Search for Tiny Personal Firewall 2.0.15. Unlike later versions, its completely free and has no bloat at all, does what it does with no funky graphics (as in using only default windows look...no funky skinning or graphs or big pictures). Seriously, at that point they werent trying to sell anything, so its pure ease of use and functionality.

After 30 days the trial period sortof wears off, but that just means it doesn't block pop-ups anymore.
