Endgame Announcements

<div class="IPBDescription">make them more visible</div> A lot of the time when a team wins and the game is ended it is hard to tell who won if it was a close game because the endgame announcment (team 1 won or team 2 won) is hard to see or sometimes it doesnt show up at all.

Maybe something that shows up in the middle of the screen announcing who won would help.

Also, why does it say Team one or team two...wouldn't it be better if it said Aliens Win or Marines Win?

    Even better: announcements that fit the setting/background. "Team one wins the game" could be for any game. Even "The Kharaa cleansed the intruders", a repeat from the beginning of the game, would be appropriate. I would also like a message specific to forfeiting via F4. (ie. "The TSA evacuated the area and the bacterium continues to spread." -- perhaps too long, but it's not up to me)

    Anyone ever play Populous 3? One thing I liked about it was the fact that when you won, your villagers would celebrate, fireworks would go off etc. I'm not suggesting the winning team throws a party or anything, but maybe something indicating that you've won - after a hard game especially, the "boop" and return to holoroom seems a bit soulless.

    I like PseudoKnight's suggestion. There needs to be a seperate message for forfeiting via F4 and actually winning the game.

    More suggestions:
    "The Kharaa decide that their losses are too great, and retreat to attack another time" - Alien F4
    "The TSA forces eliminated the Kharaa infestation" - Marine win

    Yes, these are very bland I know.

    the endgame announcments being so small and only showing up for a sec or two is getting annoying, especially when both teams destory the others cc or hive near the same time and you cant really tell who won, damn annoying when this happens after a long game and both sides say they have won

    need a better visual announcment for who won and possibly an audio announce

    like in cs...terrorists win, cant dispute that

    What about this: The screen fades to red right before they get thrown to the readyroom for the losing team. The screen fades to white for the winning team.

    im sure there is some reason why it hasn't been implemented, other than sheer laziness...

    I agree, some kinda of voice would be sweet. And a really big loud tooltip falls right in the middle of everyones screen.

    Along these lines, I think no one should be able to fire once the CC or Hive is destroyed (this is combat specific), like in DoD. Because once I've won/lost it's annoying to stop playing and have someone run over and kill you.

    Hm, adding in odds of it getting implemented, best suggested change ever... this needs to be done!

    For those of you who can't wait, you can always replace your .wav files in your sound directory... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    You can already do it somewhat yourself. Just go into your titles.txt file and change it (It's somewhere near the bottom I think)

    I changed team one wins to "The Frontiersmen have secured the installation!" and team two wins as "The Kharaa have cleansed the intruders"

    The following two images already exist. One or the other should appear centred on the screen as it fades to black while the victory music is played, with appropriate text in bold underneath.

    <img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/manual/images/images/victory_pose.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    <span style='font-size:17pt;line-height:100%'><b><span style='color:blue'>THE MARINES HAVE WON!</span></b></span>

    <img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/manual/images/images/victory_aliens.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    <span style='font-size:17pt;line-height:100%'><b><span style='color:red'>THE KHARAA HAVE WON!</span></b></span>

    At the same time, I think everyone's viewpoint/camera should jump to orbit in 3rd person around the last remaining member of the enemy team in his/her death throes, with everything frozen in time (as is done in Unreal Tournament).

    Hell no, I'm happy with them as they are now.
    Does it matter if they get displayed down there? I mean.. :\

    Hmm, those official images would sure be cool. That's the coolest idea I can think of.

    Yes it does. I've played several games where I actually had to ask people in the ready room who won, because the "who won" display flashes past so quickly, and it's not often obvious from the game itself (especially if, in combat, the CC and the hive are both on red).
