How To Kill A Lerk

Stick yer head between your legs...
... and kiss your bum goodbye.

The only REALLY effective way to kill a lerk (that I've found)

A) Grenades in a tight spot (the explosion will kill them)

B) Shotguns/HMG's and spray and PRAY

C) Knife the sucker when he tries to focus bite your HA **** XD It works SOO well... dunno why but it does!

THIS is coming from a dude that plays lerk alot... these 2 (I normaly NEVER get knifed... have YET to be knifed as lerk) tactics... always get me... nade spam and Shotty Spammage

Random LMG/Pistol/HMG/Shotty/Nade/Welder/Knife/turret fire is normally ineffective, as the Lerk can simply fly faster than you can aim... stupid lagging hitboxes sometimes get it killed tho ><"

In all my time playing NS, ive only seen a Lerk get knifed once. And no it wasnt me.

Turrets actually work pretty well, but theyre a bit spensive. Im afraid good aim is the best counter.

how hard is it to lead shots infront of your target.. (fastmovinglerk) basic ballistic skill should fix this

I have a problem that with Lerks I'm still in the NS2.0 mindset that chasing them down works. Now that they bite, it doesn't.

I find it very easy to take down Lerks with my shottie. Wait for them to fly at you to take a bite, and when they do *BAM* one or two shells in the face. It's quite effective since it's really the only way they can get at you without exposing themselves for too long by continuously firing spores. This works best in HA - never, ever, start flying in your jetpack while under attack by a Lerk, they're faster than you and it will be nearly impossible to hit them while both of you are flying.

I find waiting for them in a spot with a shotgun works quite well....just get a quick shot at him and quickly crouch. He misses, you laugh, he returns and you repeat.

    Dead lerk.

But of course, lerk's worst enemy would be the grenade launcher.
One grenade in the face = dead
One grenade lobbed near it = dead
One grenade sneakily placed = dead

So either is your choice. Shotguns or GLs. If the lerks uses umbra it's best to use the GL.

But then, who doesn't know about this?

*shrug* Sounds co_ oriented. In ns_ you just shoot at them til Hive 2, at which point you run or hope theres some sort of explosive handy.

A full pistol mag plus a lil LMG usually does the trick.. start with the pistol. Works even better when you got a buddy with a pistol shooting with you.

Actuallly, I have scored a midair GL hit when I was dueling it out vs a carapace lerk on the one map, co_daimos I think it was. I was flying to the hive, lerk bites me, I turn around nade it to the face, splash damage kills me, and the lerk goes on to live. So remember.. carapace makes it that much harder to GL a lerk.

Well. assuming the sceario that the lerk dosn't have Redemption or Carapace, it's ussually quite easy to down a lerk with just an lmg + pistol... Why do you need a shotgun? especially in 3.0 because the flying system is alot diffirent and I've noticed lot's of players find it hard to utilize the new flight system. I play with a low sensitivity, and if the lerk is flying away, then it ussually dosen't strafe left to right while flying...pretty much a steady straight line from my expireicne, maybe they will go up or down. Still, that's pretty easy!

I can never seem to get them.

<--- if u hit them in the wings, does it do damage? What about body? WHat part of body? And what is this about ballistic shooting? Do u have to shoot ahead of the lerk to hit him? Behind the lerk? By how much distance?

    Thanks in advance..

Not sure on the hitboxes on them, but I'm pretty sure if you shoot at thier wings, it will probably hit them no matter what. Aiming in front of them is used because of thier speed; by the time you react, the bullet(s) would it them if you are aiming a little in front of them. A pistol could hit a lerk a lime away if you had the proper aim, so that dosent really matter.

Lerks are nothing special, except for the fact that they can fly around. When they are walking, two shotgun blasts could take it out easily, though.

Bullets hitting on the wings do not register as hits, making it a bit more difficult to get him at long range with that ridicoulosly small hitbox.

Nevertheless, they're gonna be tough to deal against, especially with Umbra support.

    Yeah, aiming is nice.

Don't fall under the falacy of "leading" your shots either- all rine weapons except the grenades are hitscan, meaning instant.
