I would have to say alot of problems are blamed on steam that arent steams fault. OMG I am laggign f steam. OMG steam messed up when trying to install it with my ghetto hack version of hl and the hl mod(lol hacked mod). I had no problem installing it and in dod my bullets dont get lost(It used to take a whole clip now only a 1/5 of a clip to kill someone). It took awhile to get used to the new layout, but even doing commands in console is nicer(as you type a list of possible command options pop up) You also have auto-retry-connection <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> Steam does have problems, but the other system had just as many. My computer would need to be restarted sometimes when switching maps or just trying to get into a game for teh first time b/c of errors. Its like saying windows 98 is the **** and XP sucks it. 98 is sweet when downloading old games or other stuff, but XP is so much sweeter(professional of course home blows).

And this whole thread would be so much more related if it was at the steam forums, or at least in a steam related thread somewhere on these boards.
And seriosuly, go bait people on steampowered, would ya?
But for me it's given me lower pings in games, which is good.
Plus anything that brings a pay-per-play game into the mainstream can't be a good thing.

/me hits his head on the table repeatedly
It's not making Half-Life pay-for-play, nor is it making any of the other games *neccessarily* pay-for-play. Half-Life will remain free to play if you buy a copy. Similarly, HL2 will not be pay-for-play if you buy a boxed copy.
It's only if you *want* to use their subscription service, getting full access to all the games they offer when they come out, that you have a pay-per-month cost on.
Information is power. Some people need batteries now and again.
Since this will only cause to sprout more pro/anti-Steam flaming after this point,
