[wip] Aliens Sound Pack

sound effects from the movie
I ripped a good chunk of sound from the movie ALIENS last year, and since then I've been tinkering with the sound data to fit it into NS. I've run into a few big problems with doing this:

1. Soundtrack, dialogue, or other background noise often gets in the way.
2. Not much variety of distinct, suitable sounds. I've really had to do some heavy amplification and equalization to extract the good stuff.

But still I wanted to show everyone what I've got so far. Here's what I consider the highlights:

- Phase gate sound from negative motion tracker clicks.
- Turret sounds with some subtle motion tracker pulses.
- Heavy Armor sounds from Ripley's power loader fight scene.
- Onos footsteps from the scene when the Queen chases Newt on the ship.
- Hive ambient sound from the Queen, loops well with uneven breathing.
- Authentic pulse rifle and smartgun sounds, with equalization & reverb.
- Jetpack sound from the Dropship.
- Miscellaneous Alien movement and death sounds, some mixed with sounds from AVP and other games.
- Marines Resource Tower sounds (hydraulic).

This is a work in progress, so any feedback would be nice. I'm especially interested in feedback on the Onos footsteps, as I just put them in and consider them the most unfinished.

I won't be able to try in-game till teh weekend, but from what I've heard, I'm trying out the xeno explosion (the splattering gib sounds is a nice effect) the HMG sound (needed something more sci-fi, and I already got something for meh LMG) the HA pickup sound (very very spiffy, and lets me know I got HA ) the comm chair startup (makes it cool and adds atmosphere if your near by, or going comm) and the marine footsteps. I'm using the MJLONIR Halo dudes, and I always kinda was irritated by the stock footsteps with them, cause they jingle alot cause the stock marine had alotta stuff on him. Well the Halo dudes have hardly anything, actually nothing on their armor, so there should be no jingling. So your footsteps seemed to match.

All in all, it sounds great in Winamp, and I'm sure it'll sound great in-game. Since I'm pretty much done modding my models and most sprites, sounds are all I need left, and this is a great help.

    Thanks for the feedback, Vash.

I've uploaded another version with new turret sounds. I didn't rip the sentry shoot-out scene from the movie, so I had to use various pulse rifle & smart gun sounds and mix in some motion tracker blips.

I know that the MT in the movie and the turrets in NS work in a completely different way, but there's still something creepy about that beeping sound. To me, the effect works on an emotional level.

Check 'em out and let me know if they sound ok.
