<div class="IPBDescription">OMG</div> this is the beggining concepts of a character in Planetside...one of Sony's Massive online Multiplayers
This is an idea that I have been boiling in my mind for several weeks. To go along with it are a series of pictures.
Scythe Ancient Technology MAX. The build of the MAX is based off the AT vehicle philosophy that you are actually "Digitized" into the object and become part of it.

This MAX is unique in that it would effectively be a "Melee" MAX. The below points detail it.
1.)Weaponry: (Note, please Read "Blink")The Scythe is outfitted with a double-blade. Firing once triggers a "double attack" (each hit is evaluated separately) I won't go into the damage specifics, but the ammo drain is as follows:
1.5.) Ammo Drain: Toggling the firing options switches the claws from on/off. When off, the MAX cannot attack. When on, the claws drain "Charges" every second from the default ammo box of the MAX. Activating the claws creates a 3 second down time.
2.)Armor: 650 default.
3.)Movement: To accomodate the fact that it is a Melee unit, it will be able to handle like a Rexo.
4.) Special ability: Blink- This is the clincher for the Scythe. It operates with a MAX capacitor (takes 2-5 seconds to charge). When used, the MAX will instantaniously "Blink" (teleport) up to 15m in the direction (on the x axis) that it is facing. This creates a "Lunge" effect so that the Scythe can close distance on Infantry, making the blades actually effective.

Uhhh.. not much. The concept art doesn't look similar at all, excepting the fact that both are bipedal, and the idea of "Blink" is hardly unique to NS, as it has been used in Dungeons and Dragons, Warcraft 3, and many other RPG style games. I really don't see what you're getting so worked up about.

I was browsing around and noticed that a lot of people are planning their HL2 modifications. One in particular that caught my attention was "NeoShock". It's in the works to be an RTS/FPS hybrid featuring three races. Soldiers (Frontiersman/Terrans), Aliens (Kharaa/Zerg), and Cyborgs (Protoss?!). It has been abbreviated as "NS", not suprising but interesting none-the-less.
In a review with Traptown website, they made a reference to "a picture-in-picture 'Hive Sight' (think Alien movies)".

I'm not concerned and I firmly believe that Flayra has nothing to do with this, but it's almost 'too related' to draw attention to a careful reader. If nothing else, it looks to be a great mod.

That max unit would suck. There is already an Anti-Infantry Max for each empire. Why should there be two?
And that thing would get owned so bad. It's bad enough that only 2 decimator shots kill a max, but that thing has to get up close and dance with infantry to get kills? Please.

Mm there ya go, that looks more like it.
you're right, 15 meters won't get that thing anywhere. hell, when I try to deploy my router's telepad, the range on that is only 300 meters, and that seems to be a very very short distance.
P.S. the basic structure of this guy, with the bent back legs etc has been around for a while, I remember seeing it in some movie back when... who knows where it started?
