26 players gives marines an advantage Grats on the win, but when you get better, play on servers with 16 max players, it'll get a lot tougher (believe me, it's not fun)

My first comm win was my first game of NS 1.0, the day of the release - the original, not 1.04. Anyone that's played 1.0 knows that isn't a terribly difficult feat, with the infinite marine resources and all. We had all the upgrades about ten minutes into the game, and the team had a nice pile of fifty HAs, HMGs, and welders sitting in the MS. Our base was pretty much the entire map, with phases, TFs, armories, observatories - everything - at every single location that could be even remotely significant. Not only did we have mini-bases at every res node, we had mini-bases between nodes, and sometimes between those bases. Looking back at it, I'm kinda surprised the server didn't crash.

Mmm, last game I commed was on a 5 vs 5 game. Marines didnt stick together, even though I tried to motivate them to do so and they didnt listen to orders well. So needless to say we were losing badly, at the end I get blamed for it
The joys of comming, i'm not an ubercomm but I know my turf, wasnt my first game.

My first comm game was a win because I JP/HMG rushed. It was the only strat I knew how to pull off as a comm at the time.

First time I commed I won... but that was way back when I was playing with a bunch of people that has only been introduced to the game. Siege tactics are king in that kind of situation. Unfortunately I haven't really seriously commed since. Its fun, but being behind my gun is even moreso. Occasionally I'll still jump in the chair if noone else decides to, but since my skill as a comm is somewhat less than nominal I've lost every such game but one where the aliens were just THAT bad.

My first comm win was when a guy jumped out of the chair like 4min into the game. So I took over, started too cap nodes and got a PG up outside Eclipse (on NS_Eclipse ).
Then i dropped HA/Welders and HMG's and they all stood in base, and i was screaming "GO PHASEGATE NOW!". After a while they got bored of whining for ammo ( in base -_-') and took down the hive.

Hmm... It was in 1.04 on Hera. I had been playing for sometime and we relocated to a hive, built PG:s and secured another hive. GG

First game I won commanding wasn't my first commanding game, but it was my first 1.04 commanding game on Bast. Before the map started, I worked it out in my head, executed it, and it worked.

It was a semi-comm win back in 2.0 on NSArmsLab server. Someone took over for me right at the end, last minute, and we won.

My favorite commander win is in 1.04. It shows just how much 1.04 was unbalanced

So the current comm gets out ( the map is ns_eclipse) and quits. I quickly get in, and basically research Jps. They have two hives.

I give out a couple of jp/shottys and send everyone to computer core. They manage to take it down, but a lot of people die. Only two jp/shotty guys remain, one flies into maint and dies in in 5 minutes, doing quite a lot of damage to the hive.

The base, by now, is completely destroyed, with only two people ( inculding me) alive. A lone skulk is chomping on the CC.

The lone marine takes down the hive, with the help of medpacks. 4-5 aliens remain. I quickly drop an ip, hop out, kill the lone skulk and get the ip up.

The marine returns. The Aliens die. I say GG to 1.04.

I really really did rely on good players, and a fairly new alien team to pull of my first (in memory) win as commander. Yeah, just drop a few HMG's, jet packs, scan hive, set group waypoint. Right off you go troops!

rofl. There's nothing rushed about getting a proto.

I tend to just use light weapons in large volumes. IMO it is far more res efficient to buy 30 shotguns than build proto, research HA, drop hmgs/ha. Unless the aliens are going AFN with higher level lifeforms, in which case a proto is essential.

Almost all of my comm wins are on Ns hera.
1) Poor win with no relocate; aliens sucked
2) Relocated to entrance, welded shut double. (Old ns_hera)
3) New ns hera. Went crazy with mad rt rush. Aliens expanded too slow so we had 200 res in first 20 mins. Relocated to double, but was a bit messy as I am not used to the building proximetry limit.

Best win was on eclipe, where we relocated to an area just ourside Triad. Aliens never even found our base.

In what other version would a commander almost always use a JP/HMG rush?

My first com win in a scrim was vs X/0 when they were the top clan in the game along with sYn. They were expecting a jp rush and I just turret farmed the hell out of the map.

My first win was in 2.01 on the Hamptons. The marines knew what to do, I just dropped them nodes and meds while keeping the upgrades flowing. we had dual arms labs and a proto finally done when they finished killing off the hive. No HA no JP. just lots of heavy weapons for everybody.

Nobody believed it was my first time comming on a pub since it went so smoothly. But honestly, it was just a team skill mismatch that won the game.

My first win was the first time I commed a full game, but I was on a server w/ a bunch of cool guys that helped me out, continually reminding me to get upgrades and such, but in a nice way. So it was really them that won, not me. I've played for a while, but only have started hoppin in the cc since 3.0 came out (also about the same time I got my headset).

Ya I did and it was hilarious. Especially since im not and never was our normal com our real com just wanted to take a break cause we always lost to X/0. They prepared for exactly what we always did and I did the opposite and it was to late for them to cope.

This is a good example of some of the great things that can happen if you join the competitive ns clan scene which is the best ns gets
