Your most relaxing music CD or Mp3 collection in headphones at very low volume, with or without using the Brainwave synthesizer function of this Winamp plugin set to "deep relaxation"

You're obviously not putting the ear plugs in properly if they hurt. They sound like your best option, other than forcing your friend to have surgery to correct his snore

Hold your room-mates nose to disrupt his breathing, or put his hand in
a bucket of warm water.
I can also safely safe that staring at your PC/Laptop screen won't
do your eyes any good if your lacking in sleep. Is there no-where else
you can sleep? A friends dorm/room?

I suggest going to the female dorm and snuggling up with a freshman...they're like teddy bears.

I had the same problem with an old roomate.. I either had to take Nyquil, some sleeping aids, or try to get into a deep sleep before he did...

Usually, if you yell at them and wake them up, that works to make them stop snoring for awhile, or if you make a loud noise and try to make them move around, that helps a little too.

What I've seen over 40 times on the "Random Polls" on sites(gamefaqs mostly):

"How do you get to sleep?"

I don't have trouble sleeping: 45%
Masturbation: 30%
Other: 15%
Soothing Music: 10%

So it looks like...THAT...is your best bet. I mean, it does make you pretty tired, right?

Then again, doing that with your roomie there is pretty sick...

Yes, self-lovin is a rather reliable way to go to sleep, one that is not recomended enough considiering that it is more reliable than most strategies (other than getting hit in the head with a brick). If you get really desperate you can try hypnotism. You can be hypnotised so that on a certain trigger word you will fall asleep for like 6 hours or however long exactly and you won't wake up unless someone says another trigger word, like "Wake up" or something.

Have some scary sounds ready, like a bloody murder scream, then play it while hes sleeping and tell hes sleeping. Heh.

Me<---Can't stop thinking of what happens, takes me about 2 hours to sleep, normal sleeping off counter aids didn't work, had to get prescription.

Try scaring him a bit untill he stops and you get good sleep
Headphones to the TV? Get the nice kind that hook onto your ear.
Industrail noise reducers, those HUGE ear muff thingy ma jig(sarcasm), they fit quite nicely, I use with my airsoft gun when I don't use the velocity reducer and silencer while having target pratice, it REALLY kills all the noise, barely hear it. Those are quite soft too

I would not suggest using anything with a cord while you're trying to sleep...unless you want a chance of not waking up at all (turning in your sleep + cord = bad). However, if you just set a pillow over your ear you shouldn't have a problem. Pillows are fairly porous and you shouldn't really be holding it over your face anyway.

Try ear-muffs...or a headband (for your ears, usually used against cold...not a headband headband). Or drugs...apparently drugs work...as does masturbation apparently.

I wouldn't be really quick for the last one though - your roommate probably wouldn't appreciate any side-effects. I also hear - if you're male - you probably want to urinate after doing it so you don't leave residue in your urethra. Not many women I know snore, so I'd assume you've got a male roommate.

try your **** hardest to stay awake during the day, and workout

obviously if you are wasted both will be hard, but if you pull it off you will fall asleep quickly at night in no time

alternative is actually switching to a multiple nap schedule - it's doable but not quite natural, who knows what the longterm effects are. Not to mention inconvenient, since most people are not this way

perhaps finding another place to sleep or changing rooms/roommates is your best bet

earplugs should not hurt. If they don't work that's another matter, but read the instructions, ask people, search, practice. Don't hurt your ears tho I don't recommend losing hearing permanently just cuz of a roommate - sleep deprivation can be serious but you can fix it in much better ways if you're gonna be drastic bout it.

If you have a messy room with lots of soft things in it(few reflections, so it dies down quickly) then a(desperate and excentric) solution would be to build a "curtain" surrounding your bed in all directions and hanging from the ceiling. With a large passage at the bottom and top facing away from your snoring friend(so you can breath) as well as an overlapping but otherwise open section for easy access. I've seen ~ 1 cm thick rubber foam sheets very cheaply so it could possibly done at a quite low cost with something like that and access to a staple gun.
