It would be more helpful if the people in there would put away their immaturity and provide some help. I've been idling there for a long time, even had +v. I have helped many new mappers that come to that channel.
But, tonight, I asked for assistance on how to make a force field. I got alternate suggestions from one, which I didn't think they worked with my map and he was unwilling to help me with a "force field". Another finally started helping, but I was kickbanned from the channel by our lovely Zazi because I didn't like the alternate suggestions.
So... unless this channel stops being a kidz club and starts helping more professionally, I don't recommend it anymore. And over here ferret is trying to make fun of Hound. Is this the kind of help one can expect in the channel?
We've got a site going up very soon which will be an excellent resource for nsmappers with things like tutorials, resources, guides etc and all you'll need to get by. We also have potentially 2 NS servers going up which we plan on letting play test their maps. Got a map? Submit to us and we hook you up with a PT, something a lot of people aren't able to do properly, again to help NSmappers.
As for the bannings, i don't know, i wasn't around for them but i'll chat with Zazi and see what he says about what happened. Regardless though, i wouldn't let this incident mar the reputation of #nsmapping, we're a friendly bunch only trying to help you guys as everyone will tell you.
Luckily from the short time i have idled on #nsmapping this hasn't happened to me. Hopefully its a one off. I'm not sure why you're calling #nsmapping immature. I admit I havn't started chilling in #nsmapping till recently but seams like most of the people in there are pretty mature and they help with lots of questions. Heck cas0002 is fairly new to mapping and still asks some newbie questions but when we point him to tutorials he makes an effort to help him self. I may be rambling now but that's my 2 cents.
Edit: Lets not turn this thread to the "Unban Me" thread. If you really have a problem with your ban, talk to Zazi in a mature manner and I'm sure he will be reasonable about it.
