First of all, how proficient are you with networking? No, I'm serious! It'll be a whole lot easier to get troubleshooting help if we can use lingo. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Is anything else working? MSN? IRC? Your fav-o-rite Email program?
On your computer, bring up a command prompt and type "ipconfig" or "winipcfg". What's your IP address?
Go to your router's settings (usually 192.168.1.1 in your browser). Is everything set up correctly? Assuming you're using a similar router as me - under "status", it <i>should</i> show an IP and DNS values for WAN.
Click "advanced" tab, then click "dynamic routing". Should be "gateway" (in almost all cases).
Give those a whirl and reply. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
yea everything that you told me is correct and i see my ip and sorts
if this don't do it restart your modem/router (unplug/replug generaly, do this when the computer is off)
Now, run Command Prompt and type ipconfig. You should see the IP 192.168.1.1 (or something along the lines of 192.168.x.1) if it is set up right. If you haven't, then you must make sure that your LAN connection is set to automatically obtain an IP address.
After it detects it. You're all set. But first!
Make sure you configure your router correctly. And be sure to configure the internet connection to your own. That way it should work.
BTW, I had a router that had an in-built CPU and had its own PHP tools in it. Might want to check if yours does by typing the same IP address you obtained from Command Prompt. BTW, it won't detect an internet connection, but click try again anyway.
But I don't know about Linksys routers though....got a rather cheap one for my PCs and it works great despite the low price :/
Did you configure a proxy?
tools > itnernet options > Connections > lan settings > Uncheck all you see IN THE NAME OF THE HORDE!!! > OK/APPLY/WHATEVER and connect now. If you are using proximetron, verify it's activated, as it acts as alocal proxy server, and can cause problems if not loaded.
It would help if we had a bit more info, such as your ISP, your routers LAN IP address, model of Linksys, and version of Windows/IE (help > about).
Good luck <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
192.168.1.1**
Again, I have actualy had this exact problem (I could get at everything exept IE)
This was well after I have had my router up and running fine, so My guess Is still reboto machine/modem/router (just do em all at once)
