Why?

Well, there's a thread here on the front page of OT about a rather well-known website for video game information.

If I didn't know better though, I could swear it read "Gamefags."

    It's time for another of my legendary 'OK folks, here's the deal:' posts!

    What is the point of a swearword filter? It is to be an obstacle that makes flaming so inconvinient that people just don't resort to it - or, more realistically, only resort to it in more extreme cases, whichs treatment is what I got my fancy member group status for.
    The words you are complaining about can be substituted with less valuing terms - such as 'homosexual', to name the most sterile example -; their exclusion does thus not really hinder your ability to voice something inoffensive.
    Seeing this and the fact that I have so far seen exactely - zero - attempts at using 'g a y' in its meaning of 'merry' within a post not trying to prove something, I don't see why we should change something about the filters.

    As for the allowing of caps within topic titles, we feel that lower case abbreviations are an acceptable price to be payed for a frontpage devoid of 'screaming' topics.
