Well I have always lurked the NS forums for over a year now and never really thought to post... but today everything has changed! Don't buy it. 350? that is a huge ripp off, you could almost get a stock impulse for that much. All that stuff is only worth around $220 tops, trust me paintball is my life. Oh and NS <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

$350 ca is about what I would expect to pay for that stuff new. I'm no where near the paintball nerd I used to be, but I definately think you are being ripped off. you shouldn't have to pay much more than 500 dollars canadian for a top of the line set up (ie, not a tipman), somewhat costom tweaked, brand new.

Paintball nerd eh?. How Ironic you used the word nerd on a Natural-Selection forum. Also I don't think 350 is even close to what it's worth, even new. If your going to spend money on a tippmann 98 (not the best choice IMO) I would save up for a higher end marker. If you get the 98 custom you prolly wont be happy with it's performance and end up buying something else anyway. Oh and one more question, do you plan to play hyper ball, air ball or just woods ball?

    *twitch* *twitch*
This will be my first gun, I just want something better then a roughed up highly used comes with the green fee Carabine.
And I heard this was the one to start with.
    I dunno'.

*twitch* yeah, doesn't seem like such a great deal... I left the P-ball scene a few years back, but in my day, a 'good' intro gun was one of the Spyder Family, and those are pretty easy to customize (especially the SE? I don't really remember what it was called anymore).

As for customization, unless you're a clutz and would break everything (if that's true, don't get your own gun in the first place), that seems to be a little much.

I got a 98 Custom, barrel, X-Chamber, and two tanks, mask and hopper for about $250 USD, all new.

At that price, you might want to either look elsewhere, or just buy them new. The Tippmann is a rock, it won't break on you, but you never know what kind of wierd mods they did to the inside. (I've got a nice trigger mod on mine, but it roughed up the safety, so you have to be careful it doesn't engage on accident, for example)

my friends have tippmans and i have a spider, i love the tippmann much more, u can get a tippman kit for 150 dollars american, the only thing you have to worry about is what kind of a barrel it is, if its a good one it can cost up to 150-200 dollars!!

so i cant tell how good it is really but double trigger is worth a bit but kind of useless IMHO...

Okay off the tippman, Good bud told me to forget Tippman.
    Anyways.
    Im new,
I need to know what I would probably rather have.
The top ones Auto, The lower ones Semi Auto.
Im just getting into this and remember tax + thats american, So the top one is like $370
Lower ones more like... $270, BEING CANADIAN SUCKS, Price wise.

    <a href='http://www.kingman.com/section/emarker/kits.html' target='_blank'>http://www.kingman.com/section/emarker/kits.html</a>
    <a href='http://www.kingman.com/section/semi_auto/kits.html' target='_blank'>http://www.kingman.com/section/semi_auto/kits.html</a>

So anyways, I really want the automatic, But I dont like the idea of payinh 370, But automatic seems like the Hybird.
Man... <3 the prices of these things.

Spyders are good choices, I personally own 5 of em, Although for that price, I've seen Autocockers on Ebay go for that price. I'd suggest you search Ebay for some, I've gotten great deals on there.

Ok heres oh it goes- The main and LARGEST mistake that newbs often make is to buy a marker with an automatic feature, which you will never use because most fields don't allow it and not to mention auto is just crap in almost every aspect. I also wouldn't buy anything off the offical Kingman site cuz all the stuff is way overpriced. Just don't forget you get what you pay for and don't be too upset if what you buy isn't all that great. Yeah and upgrade a spyder? what for? you can only push these low end guns soo far, but I would reccomend buying a new barrel to take place of the stock one.

Here is a good starting kit for much cheaper-

Basically already been said, but $350 canadian is way too much for that package.

You could get it new for that much, depending on the barrel he's selling with it.

Regardless, Spyders and their clones are good started guns so you can have your own gun, learn about it, play with it, etc. My brother has a tippman 98 that he's had for a good number of years now, and I've still got my Spyder Elite I bought way back in like 98-99.

If, however, you already know you like the sport and are gonna stick with it, you can probably pick up a used autococker or automag for about that. Spyders have a good number of drawbacks to them (pretty bad shootdown, plenty of parts that like breaking, etc.) Model 98's aren't 'bad' persay, but they are fairly heavy, and have a freakin' lot of parts if you break them down.

If you want my biased opinion, you can probably pick up a classic mag+LX kit and have an excellent starter gun for around $300 or so. You can plop on an expansion chamber and use CO2, or just pick up a preset HPA tank and go that route. I play with a RT Pro now, and can honestly say it's the most enjoyable marker I've ever shot=)

If you're looking for used markers (and not just mags---all types are sold here)
