And the upgrades
What I'm asking about is the support upgrades such as Scanner sweep,Resupply, and catalyst. How do you reuse them? I see people reusing them all the time but I dont know how to.

I've searched 8 pages looking for info, but just cant find any at all. Any help would be appreciated.

Resupply works whenever you are injured even at 99, or are somewhat low on ammo. I believe if it's lower than the amount a full clip can hold, it'll spawn an ammo pack.
Catalysts activate whenever you kill someone.
Scanner Sweep I am unsure about, but I believe it's whenever it detects a cloaked unit.

Health Resupply is insane, you get a medpack for one hp off. Ammo resupply seems a bit slow, I've run right out before getting another clip

With Catalyst, you get one pack when you kill someone. It dosn't stack however, your current catalyst has to run out before you get another.

Scanner sweep fires whenever a cloaked Kharaa is in range.

Yup. This is how it works.

Resupply scans your client for health differences. If you're under 100 health, and the timer for resupply is up, you get a health pack.
Health is preferenced over ammo. You will only get ammo if you have less then one clip in reserve. I.E. 7 shotty shells IN RESERVE, 49 LMG bullets (But for some reason, HMG and GL are handled differently.), etc.

If you are low on health (Even one point down) You will NEVER get an ammo pack. You must be at full health, have the weapon selected (Because of the way ammo packs themselves work, it's current weapon, not a weapon you or the engine chooses), and wait for the resupply timer to expire before you can get an ammo pack. If you're that worried about ammo, fire until you have one less then a full clip, reload, and you'll get enough for a while.

Catalyst kicks in when you buy it first (Not hurting you), then kicks in again whenever you get a kill. I personally disagree with this way of doing it, but there's no other real way to have catalysts work reliably. It WILL hurt you when you are given catalyst from a kill, though.

Scan is simple, it's an area around you that is checked for cloaked units. If any are found serverside, a scan goes off. A timer determines when it can be set off again.

No. He commented that he would like to see it be like O2 damage or a biohazard (I.E., it slowly comes back), but scrapped the idea in favour of not introducing more bugs to the system which he'd have to fix.

It will NEVER kill you, though.

You don't lose hp from cat packs anymore.
• DelphiDelphi Join Date: 2003-04-02 Member: 15134Members, Constellation
Yeah. I started up a game to check this, and indeed, you don't. That makes the upgrade in combat somewhat more appealing (Especially without resupply), but the cost is balanced in classic with 4 res/pack.

Oopsie.

Stimpacks would be the same thing as cat packs, just a different name. They make you fire, reload, and move faster. I don't know how long they last.

not reload

I thought it was reload as well, and I believe the timer is 6 seconds.

Hm, I recently tried out catalysts in combat for the first time since I was bored and didn't feel like going through a normal upgrade order. I was alone when I picked the catalyst upgrade, I got it immediately. It wore off, then a bit later, it picked up again. I never killed anyone for it to kick in again, so are you all sure that is how it's triggered? I figured it was on a timer.

Everything that has been stated says you get cats after a kill, and it does not speedup reload.
