Dumb Keyboards
I have had a problem with most keyboards for awhile. When I press multiple keys nothing happens and the computer emits a repeating beep sound. This only happens with some combinations and is variable for keyboards. Can anyone point out a keyboard that I can press 7 or more keys at once. I.E. on my current keyboard I cannot reload when forward strafing because the keyboard does not support pressing T, H, and U at once.

Yea I got the same thing, while building strafing around and chekking stats my computer makes a spooky beep.

SEVEN keys? Wow. I couldn't really help you there. Maybe you could get some drivers for your keyboard. My old keyboard only let me hit 2 at a time but my current one (Mircrosoft) lets me hit 3 (haven't tried anymore). That's plenty even when I'm multitasking in game.

Hmm, I have never run into problems with pressing too many keys on my keyboard, and it's a staggering $10 Canadian. I have easily pressed 5 or 6 keys at once without problem, never tried more.

If you want, I could get the model when I get home here. But it is an oldie, dunno if they make it anymore.

you may have accerdently enabled sticky keys mode, check the control pannel > accessability options. and find sticky keys.

    hope that fixes it

Oh yes and sticky keys is the problem, good if you are disabled, but annoying when you are not.

it may be a limitation of the PS/2 port? Is that 10 dollar canadian keyboard USB?

It's a limitation of Windows, from what I've heard. 7 keys is the max.

It is NOT sticky keys. I never have used it and disabled the shortcut, shift five times i think, long ago. It's a keyboard problem with the hardware thus different keyboards have different key maxes.

No, I'm sure it's directly related to Windows, and not drivers.

http://www.soundplant.org/spfaq.htm at the bottom, I've investigated and found the same information 3 times more. It is a keyboard HARDWARE problem not drivers or OS. So I need to find one that doesn't have the problems my current keyboard has.

Yeah, but even that page suggests seven is the maximum. I'll keep looking, and see what I can find to help you out.
