as far as radeon 9xxx goes?
In the market to get a new card, so naturally i'm looking at one of the radeon 9800 pro's. Now I know they come in either 128mb or 256mb, but I also note a lotta different companies are making them as well. Oftentimes on ebay I also see ones that contain 'samsung' memory. Was wondering if anyone had any particularly positive experiences with a particular brand, or if there was anything I should knowingly stay away from when making my purchase. Any and all assistance that can be offered would be great, thanks

I personally will only buy from ATI. They and Sapphire make the best quality cards. Actually Sapphire makes some of ATI's cards.

There are two versions of the 9800 pro, one with samsung memory and another with hynix memory I think. Anyways, the samsung memory overclocks better, that's why you'll be paying a slight premium on them on ebay.

Best advice I can give is to find a card you think you may like (NEVER EVER GET SE though) and google for reviews on it. Also check sites which sell it for reader reviews, although be warned a lot of those are from people who really don't know what theyre talking about.

Personally, I only buy Built By ATi cards. They make the chips, and they've got the stones to stand behind them and do their own tech support and end-user relations. They're going to do it *right*, as opposed to a third-party who may skimp on parts.

jeeze nem lol, a bit touchy arent we? *offers an iv drip with prozac*.. anywho, personally if you'ld want a ATI card thats king of the hill, its not "terribly" too much more than a Pro but imho well worth the money, is a ATI Radeon 9800 XT by ASUS. Asus is da bomb at making really break neck MB's and they do the same for video cards. Very good quality can always be expected from them, + performance. They are a gamers ally to me anyways.

    Peace, hope it helps.
