How did you get here in the first place?
I first found NS from a blurb on PHL somewhere around June of 2002. I came to the site and read abit about it then I immediately moved to the forums. I lurked for nearly a week reading "Tales from the Frontlines" (A thread where playtesters told stories from the original 1.0 playtests.) I signed up on the forums a little after that and then patiently waited for release like everyone else. NS came out on Halloween and I've been playing ever since.

Whats your NS history?

Playing AHL at the time someone mentioned it. He said it was a mix between CS and Action, so I got it. He obviously knew nothing about it, but glad I got it.

My friend told me about it about a month before its release (he worked for hl.org), so he got to play it early. I saw it, and slammed the refresh button on Halloween. Been playing ever since.

Well, I was on Siris 52, mining for Zeon Ore when I over heard a few guys talking about something. Upon further eavesdropping, they were talking about ditching this mining bull crap (which is what it is, 12 Earth hour workdays, with 7 Earth days a week for like, @8 Intergal Bills an hour.) It was the TSA marines, I had encountered a few on Planton 12 when there was a White Collar rebellion, like they have anything to rebel against... The Planton government called in the TSA Marines to help quell the uprising. I'll tell ya, when those rebels saw those dropships with TSA on the side, they ran in the opposite direction. Took them just 2 hours to stop all the rioting and fighting...

Anyways, the TSA were offering new recruits 40 Earth hour work weeks on average for @15IBs! That was rich man's money, not to mention that they paid 1.10 in overtime pay. So I signed up. After the hell that was boot, my first assigenment was to the I.G.S.S. Nancy... I'll never forget seeing my first Kharra. I swear to god, I thought it was a strange dog, a guy even tried to pet it and got hishand bitten clean off, followed by his face. After two hours and several gallons of spilt blood, we were victorious...

In all seriousness, friend told me about it, went cool and forgot about it till about Dec. of 2002 or so, it was when they were getting ready to launch 1.03. After a couple months of playing, I left till sometime in summer when I had a better computer and have been even more addicted to it ever since.

I read an article about NS's release and since I got broadband that day I thought I may as well try it out. I came to the forums to make a complaint. You weren't able to mute someone before and a female member in my (previous) clan was being given a lot of sexist ****. Then I didn't post for months and I was bored one day and came back. Been here ever since

Tycho from Penny Arcade mentioned it in one of his newspost articles. He was really impressed with the teamplay and commander mode. I was playing Tribes 2 at the time and thought that would be really cool. About a year later, here I am...

Clanmate from a game i played at that time (AvP2) told me he was playing NS over AvP2, and since i was getting bored of AvP2 i decided to let it have a go because he got me enthousiastic about it being the same Marines vs Aliens idea but with a strategic twist and actual teamwork.

I should hunt him down with a trout to slap him with tbh, ever since then my studies get like 75% less attention

I bought my half-life cd begin '98 but I already had a copy in sept '97, i've been screwing around since then with Linux and TFC.
Then came the Half-Life Generations Pack, I bought it again to be shure
after 2 years playing TFC I got bored and then 1 year playing DoD, nice mod but i'm more SF-like and I also got AvsP 1 & 2 but there is no teamplay so finally after searching and learning more about mods I found NS1.0x
Between 1.0x and 3.0 my girlfriend and I had a baby so I missed a lot of action

It had to be the hilarious ad i saw on planet half-life. It was airing as a flash banner probably about 2 weeks before the first NS release (1.0), maybe you guys will recall it... it went something like this:
Rough day at work?....
It could be worse!
..and then it showed a marine encountering a skulk.
LoL It was funnier when watching it.
Anyone remember that ad? That's the one that sold me!

I heard about it from these geeks I used to be one of on a MUCK, which is something ridiculously dorky that you don't have to know the definition of.

It sounded cool, but I couldn't play it since my videocard was half broken in the first place. Then roughly around january, I got to play 1.04, which was loads of fun. Been playing since.

in one of my bouts of boredom I checked out PHL in september 01, on it I saw the NS website, thought it sounded cool and added it to my favourites. Only to forget about it and rediscover it in march 02.

wow... March 2002, I've almost been here for 2 years...

Svencoop.com had a news post about a newly release mod called NS in October 2002. Checked out the main page, (the original flash intro probably sold me early on ) read up on it, read through the forum and was impressed. Never looked back since.

I started HL back in what 97, 98? and eventually got High Speed Internet so i could actually play for a length of time. I started on umm DoD and CS found Ns back in 1.04 I liked it but stopped playing for a bit when I got school coming back around. Then I dont know I came back not sure what version really and played nonstop. I had previously been lurking on the forums for a long time and decided to get signed up. And here I am today.

My mate at college (ktdm : Rapacious/Wuii) used to bore us to death with his constant ramblings about a small Half-Life mod called NS. I'd never played Half-Life and I didn't intend to until I got ADSL. Got broadband a couple of months later and a new PC a month after that. on the last of term before Xmas holidays (2003) I bought Half-Life Generations from HMV and a Plantronics headset. With me playing NS he finally has someone to talk to it about. I'm addicted and I stay on it until 4 am (like now ). 8 weeks on, I'm the leader of a new clan filled with lots of skilled members who have been playing since 1.04 and I can regularly be found on the top of the scoreboard in public games. When I can find someone with a credit card I'm going Constie ASAP. I love NS.

Well I had recently been banned for supposed "h4x!!1" on the TFC server I had been a regular on for 9+ months, so I was bored and looking at other games. One of these was Shadowbane, and so I was looking through the SB forums and saw a post asking what people were doing while waiting for the game to come out. One of the guys mentioned the newly released(at the time) HL mod Natural Selection and its unique strategy elements. My curiousity was aroused and so I downloaded NS and have played regularly since then.

I got it off the PC Gamer (I think) demo of Jan/Feb, played that for a few months, took a break and came back 2 months before 2.0 was released.

Well I've heard about NS from some HL programming forums. It caught my attention as a mod coder.
