If it's any consolation, one of the hunters got scratched by the lion.
It was probably being hunted for a reason. It was most likley an rouge lion hense the fact that there was no other lions about. They were out to kill it because it was making a pain in the arse of it self by killing local farmers livestock and maybe even attacking local people.

Poachers are effing scum, I know a guy who was in africa with the brittish army and he went round the nature reserves with the wardens. He let the wardens use their kit like thermal imaging and GPMG's and they picked up a poachers camp.
Well lets just say they poachers didn't even see it coming....

And this gives us right to hunt it and kill it? Lions where thier long before we moved in on its turf it has every right to kill the livestock and defend itself.

Whoa . All animals compete with each other, the only difference is that humans are smart enough to cooperate and use their environment better than other animals. Out competing other animals does not make us parasites more than it does sparrows which undoubtedly have at one point or another outcompeted other, less proficient species. If you define parasite as a creature who harms other in order to live then yes, all creatures do and all creatures are parasites, useless classification, no?
The only other animals that are even remotely nice to species other than their own(dogs for example), do so for the same reasons we do. By helping others of their own species they help themselves and they are smart enough or act on an instinct to extend the concept of friendship to creatures of other species.
Humans are IMO, just the lesser of evils. Humans are selfish b,astards but they are smart enough to cooperate for selfish reasons, but it's perfectly OK all other animals are selfish b,astards too, they are just to dumb or to instinct driven to be as nice(comparatively) to each other as we are.
Actually I think a parasite is one organism living off another without being symbiotic (that is, only one is gaining a benefit). Lampreys and leeches are parasites; they offer nothing to what they're feed off of.
Well, unless you're living in the middle ages and they're an integral part of medicine .
Tape worms and other intestinal parasites are also...parasites. Again, unless you consider not quite-so-modern medicine (1800's). Most bacteria in the intestines aren't parasites though, they aid in the digestion of foods, and therefore aren't parasites.
So, occasionally humans are parasites, but so are lots of other creatures.
Not a big fan of the lion hunters, but I'm sure they had a good reason for it. Not like I'm going to run over to Africa and beat down anyone shooting Lions either. I wouldn't even be against the hunting if lions had a larger gene pool and could reproduce faster.
That lion is one stone cold ****. You see how many shots it took?
I was hoping that hunter at least got gashed; doesn't look like he was hurt at all.

As far as veganism goes there's already plenty that is illegal for us to eat, I mean we can't eat bald eagles, silverbacked gorrials, wooping cranes, unicorns, as far as I'm concerned everything else is fair game.
