Just give them both a try and use which one you like more. Anymore any reviews don't do browsers justice.
well, i havent noticed any differenced in firefox from firebird, but i am in love with the one-click ad blocking and tabbed browsing, and a better sense of security over IE, not to mention i havent seen a single popup or "please install gator now" box since switching...

Built in e-mail client, ability to zoom in on pages up to %1000, builtin popup blocker. Ability to function as a text onlt browser for fast loading times. Ability to pose as any major browser *IE Netscape Mozilla ect...* Navigate with mouse gestures ect...

I just got firefox a couple days ago, was previously a fan of Opera for the past year or so. Firefox did need a couple plugins before I liked it: needed to get mouse gestures and a confirmation box on attempted close of a Firefox window with more than one tabbed webpage view. But after that, I'm liking it. I find loading times are arguably equal, both have the same feature I like to open multiple bookmarked pages in a folder at once (I have a folder of daily visits like webcomics and news sites), and I never bothered with Opera's e-mail client, so...I find Firebird is just a slimmed-down program that has the features I actually use. Assuming you get the extensions/plugins to make it that way.
Went from IE (years) to Opera (several months) to Firebird (few months) and back to Opera again. The new version of Firebird (aka FireFox) had some issues that required a reinstall, I think. (reinstalling plugins... ugh) It got me to look at the latest version of Opera, which made me fall in love again. I just love the built-in customizeability. It's like a browser built for me. The ad space is much better (smaller) now as well. I might register it anyway since I am a space effecient browser.
As for FireFox, I might reinstall it someday. I'm just grooving with Opera now and enjoying it.
opera was nice but it always felt more 'clunky' to me and I hated the adspace being their at all. I like my browser to take up as little of the screen as possible and I've never viewed browsers as software I should have to expend money on (especially when firefox is pretty similar and costs nothing). If you want email just download thunderbird, it's supposedly a fantastic email thingy but I can't say myself because I've never bothered.
Considering how much I use the 5 buttons on my mouse, gestures were more of a novelty than something I really wanted or needed, though like marik mentioned there's a plugin for that if you want them. Firefox is super customisable and has a plethora of plugins offering things ranging from the usual to some stuff you couldn't have even imagined (one plugin I keep considering allows you to mark 'cool sites' and check what everyone else has suggested and it slowly learns what stuff you like to be shown through use. Sounds good for random browsing to me ^^ ).
Admittedly I've not tried opera again since my last use (I tried it for a week before going back to IE... I found firebird a year later =3 ). I'd probably give opera another shot if it didn't have the 'BUY ME OR SUFFER THE AD!!! FEAR THE AD!!! ROWR!!!' thingy. Sure it's just a banner ad and it's not amazing obtrusive but it still takes up precious screen-space

Opera has a famously bugged rendering engine. You may love mouse gestures, but more websites look broken in Opera than any of the other big 4 Windows browsers.
Just installed the new version, it's nice. It kept my settings
