depends on if you want to make your lan a "brong your won computer"-lan or not.

iif every person just uses their own computer its up to them if they have a legal copie of ns with the key...

if you have the pcs for the ppl you have to have a legal license for every computer, just like a internetcafe i think...

so its up to you how you want to organize your lan

    Half-Life does....

NS is a mod for HL. NS uses the same key as Half-Life

If I'm correct we'll have a LAN next week on school, Don't know if NS will be played, maybe I can pimp it.

from my understanding all they need is there steam ID not there comps.
and steam ids are you email. so its fine then

I'm not really sure what you mean by this one, an easy way to get a valid steam id is to buy a 10 dollar version of blue shift, it comes with a working cd key

What he means is you don't have to bring each machine, if they remember their Steam account, they can log in with that from any machine with Steam installed (their Half-Life key is bound to the account) So to put it simply, their account *is* their key.

Try e-mailing Valve. When our school tried to set up one of these gaming rooms, valve sent us 32 HL CD-keys for our systems for free.

    There, another problem with steam

With won, you could all just use one copy of HL install it on all machines and play LAN(lan dont have cd key collision) btu with steam, you all need invididual accounts with their own cd keys

we did hl mod lans at my old skool and used won (half-life, no steam) which you could have everyone using the same cd key for...not trying to promote anything illegal, but if its a school event on school comps i dont think valve would care...and Jummeh said he got some free ones, so you could try that too...
