During my 'off time' from CAL I made a few demos of me playing combat.

All you need is 6 people, 6 hl cd keys and an irc channel to be in CAL.

Very true.
It was just something to kill time. It runs at like 720 x 480 and is about 3 1/2 minutes long. Not anything really 'leet' in it.
:D?
EDIT: CAL= Cyberathlete Amateur League
CPL= Cyberathlete Pro League
It's a tournament-somethingorother for PC gaming. If you're the best in CPL, you get money!
Winamp 5 won't play it either.
I give up.
...
150 mb, this better be good.
It works fine for me.... EXCEPT it doesn't allow you to adjust brightness/contrast settings which is quite annoying since the video isn't that bright. Otherwise it's entertaining.
Next time use a different codec.
Some of it is dark because that is the defualt gamma. I play the game it is suppose to be played with out changing one config command.

What about your drama hacks?

ooooooooooo burn
Whole movie was you crouching killing single skulks as they ran directly at you.
Suggestions.. remove chat text (hud_saytext 0). replace hud sprites with transparent sprites (hp/armor/ammo, keep or remove the xhair). record the movie of the demo at the resolution of the encoded movie (ie: ingame resolution == encoded movie resolution.. sprites are sharper, as they are not being condensed.. esp death notices). when making the movie, change your video card settings to best visual quality (ie, turn on antialiasing, anistropic filtering, vsync on, etc..).
For the movie I've been working on, I made a seperate nsp directory with all the above changes, including higher gamma/brightness then normal. As someone above said, ingame gamma != movie gamma.

I thought it was decent for the effort.

Looked fine to me. Much of the distortion was due to compression it seems.

When you don't have to worry about FPS, turn up the quality! There are also some settings you can put in your userconfig.cfg to make sure NS is running at it's best. While not all of these are necessary for top quality, it's easy to copy and paste them. These are some quick high quality settings:
gl_keeptjunctions 1
gl_dither 0
gl_smoothmodels 1
gl_round_down 0
gl_texturemode GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR
gl_max_size 1024
mp_decals 500
The rest seem to be default on good quality settings.

Generally I increase the brightness and contrast manually to my taste during post-production. I can't wait to see your movie.
