    The scary thing is, I thin kthat may be text from the Lord of the Rings books. I can't be bothered to look it up, but I know I've seen that text somewhere before.

    Do a google search on the word FUTHARK. Use the links you find there plus the picture to translate. Have fun.

    BTW: AFAIK the futhark is the old norse alphabet. LOTR uses that alphabet for dwarven language, as do many many rpg's. (it's a common element to have dwarves resemble the norse) In other words what you're looking at is a real alphabet that was adapted for the book.

    Yeah, I looked it up a few days ago, a lot of the runes from the map arent in the Futhark alphabet, so...

    It actually is a futhark, futhark just refers to it being a runic alphabetic language. That particular one is similar in some respects to the futhark introduced by Tolkien, yes, and it is also similar to some Norse and Tutonic futharks. However, that particular one is an old english futhark. Old english, as you may or may not know, being a hodge-podge of several languages of which Norse and Tutonic are included.

    As Thursday's quote says it's english, but using a font from a different language.

    If you can find the font the maper used, then you should be able to type out the message into MS Word in that font, and then just change the font to Arial to read what the message says...

    Trying to translate it letter for letter most likely wont work very well.
