I had no idea that some of these people were _this_ ... erm... dedicated.

Well, I'm basically an anime n00b, only found a few series I like so far (GITS:SAC, Evangelion, Trigun, you know, the sci-fi ones). Anyone have any recommendations? I heard Full Metal Panic is pretty good.

I can never see spending that much on a statue when I could assemble a top-of-the line PC for $2500 and download some fansubs. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Anyways, yes, you should never walk into an anime store again. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Well, you've seen some Good Ones, so at least you're on the right track.

I haven't seen more than the first episode of Full Metal Panic (which was excellent), but I've heard good things. Others you might want to try are GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka), Gunslinger Girl (if you can find it), Witch Hunter Robin and Full Metal Alchemist (no relation to Full Metal Panic).

22-24 (i think) were good again, and seemed at the time to be leading up to a big awesome fiery apocalyptic finale.

Episodes 25 and 26 were without doubt THE biggest pile of excrement I have ever had the misfortune to spend an hour of my life watching. Episode 25 was "Let's emphasise all the points we've already made in previous episodes and tie it together with 2 minutes of actual NEW material", while 26 was "Uh, we've run out of money, lets get some 2 year olds to script and animate it, and call it an ending."

Yes I realise Gainax really DID run out of money at that point, so i'm just hoping the movie (which i'm borrowing of a friend as soon as he remembers to bring it in) is a more satisfying ending. Apparently it isn't. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Satisfying? That really isnt the way to describe End of Evangelion...
That movie singlehandedly dismantles your psyche.
Most of my friends and I had the same reaction when we finished it:

The movie ends, we sit for approximately 2 seconds. Our conscious minds know what we have just seen, but our subconscious refuses to accept it. We then said, in a flat tone of voice "I have to go to the bathroom." We took approximately 10-15 steps down the hallway, then collapsed, groaning in agony, as our subconscious cought up.

End of Evangelion crushes viewers like a bugs, and yet...
    Highly reccomended.

I just got up after pulling an all nighter... watching Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai. Has Gainax ever done something even remotely normal?

If you want something BETTER than Evangelion and want to understand why I saw this $200 AUS statue and bought it instantly do yourself a huge favour and watch Nadia The Secret of Blue Water

I bought the DVD bundle on a whim for Christmas and it now ranks easily in my Top 5 Favourite Series of all time.

Nadia was created years before Evangelion, but a lot of the stuff in Nadia acts as a precursor to Evangelion. Namely the music in the 1st 1/3rd of the series. It absolutely screams Evangelion during the battles.

On top of that the lead male, Jean, isn't a whiney brat like Shinji is and will actually take the initiative a lot of the time.
    And Nadia is just sexy~~

Also Nadia has some of my all time favourite imageary EVER in an anime series. Key favourites include the escape from the World Fair, the first island Nadia and Jean land on, and the crab robot.

And lastly, where Evangelion suffers from references to the Dead Sea Scrolls only people with a Masters in Archeaology will get. Nadia has some simple references to a lot of stuff in the Bible that even I get (I'm not a practitioner of any religion)
Without spoiling it, when they add some... new stuff to the equation you won't be left too far behind and you can draw your own conclusions quite easily.

So do yourself a huge favour. Pick up the <a href='http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/jt=iyDuhrhp=HfFCqx/browse/item/61108/4/0/0' target='_blank'>RightStuf: Nadia the Secret of Blue Water DVD Bundle</a>. It includes all 10 DVDs of the series, the movie, and all 4 OST CDs for $160 American.
An absolute bargain to be sure.

If you do pick this up. Nadia The Movie comes after the series has finished. But don't watch it.... the way they wrap everything up in the end of the TV series is absolutely ruined in the movie.

So there you have it. Watch Nadia and understand why I fell in love with the statue instantly. Go now nubs!

I forgot rape was popular in Anime... *eyes dart around room* rofl

Well it's the more of the non-serious versions of it.  The little cat/rabit thing loved carrots.  It was pretty recent to a couple of years.  Was on the Cartoon Network.  I saw the other version, but didn't care much for it. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yea that's Tenchi Muyo, I used to watch it everyday. Tenchi is such a little punk I swear. "Gurls stop iiittt!" Cmon man, now if it were me, "Ryo-Ohko, Aeka, and Sasami, please follow me to some tea and ice cream, in my um, yes, my room." <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Take the last name off and that'd be reasonable I suppose.
Seriously, I doubt anyone on here would go for Sasami, she is only 8 after all.
