You create a waypoint by right clicking on an area of the map whena soldier is selected. I think you have to bind +attack2 to mouse2 in order for that to work probably (+popupmenu is bound to mouse2 be default). It is very rare that many people use the different waypoint orders and I'm not too clear on how to create those because I don't command much at all. I hate commanding - too much stress and the fear of being called a n00b just because I have poor RTS skills

select marine, point somewhere random along the map, and right-click.. =/
i think theres 4 different types.

-Move to your waypoint
-Guard structure (by clicking on a building...somehow, often dont work though
-Weld target at waypoint (by clicking on a welding spot), it works but you have to be precise
-Enemy is nearby ....basically, you just right click on an alien and the waypoint will stick with it, but you hardly ever see this cos its near impossible to pull it off

And i dont think you have to particularly bind for it - marine config and commander config are 2 different setups

There is also a "Pick up equipment" waypoint, but I have only ever seen this used once before, leading me to believe that clicking on the armour or weapon lying on the ground is deceptively difficult, or bugged.

These waypoints used to be common in the old 1.** versions of NS, but were taken out in the release of the version 2.0. Now when I say taken out, I dont mean taken out completly. They are just extreamly hard to achieve.

This is how I see it. On each object there is a small zone that lets you place one of those alternate waypoints. If its a structure thats being built, a build here waypoint is placed. If it is a soldier/structure that is already built, a guard here waypoint is placed. If the selected object is a weldable object, a weld here waypoint is placed. And finally, if its a set of equipment, being guns, heavy armor, jetpacks, just anything you can pickup, a pickup equipment waypoint is placed. These zones on the objects were reduced to practally the size of a pixel, so you dont really see them anymore.

I myself dont understand why they were removed -- they were extreamly helpful to commanders that didnt have mics.

Hope this helps!

The additional waypoint sounds are unused, which is a pity.

I dont think amckern meant you need to actually press the winkey; i think s/he was just explaining the location of the Alt key.

Not shift but ctrl (or whatever you have crouch bound to).

just bind it yourself :> I bound my voicecom key to 'b' because it's the first key in the bottom row not used for commanding...

kk, thanks
i'll test it. what happens when i'm using that. the zone for the waypoints like build structure at waypoint or weld target at waypoint has more pixel when crouch is pressed and i can use this one better than before or just the selected marines can hear my voice?

AFAIK it just means only the selected marines can hear your voice. I doubt crouching would effect the type of waypoint issued.
