Hivesight - Range Too Limited

Alien hivesight needs a boost so that it is visible for the whole map. Right now, it can be very difficult to see where that "structure under attack" is.

    Point your crosshair at the structure - you'll get full description of what structure it is and where it is. Or you can simply look it up on the minimap.
    Hivesight covers the entire map btw. Are you perchance referring to scent of fear?

    The hive sight icons do not show all the time. I see them vanish and reappear frequently in most games. Happens a lot on ns_origin (huge map), but also happens on, I believe, all maps.

    I've just always assumed it was a display bug or a setting limit the number of sprites on a screen simultaneously.

    Hivesight does not currently cover a whole map. Not even close actually. A whole combat map--sure, but not a whole NS map. It did in 1.x. I don't remember 2.x since I got sick of the gameplay staleness and loss of atmosphere and played mostly other games. All 3.x betas (at least since they let CMs in) have had this problem. Considering that hivesight is supposed to replace the comm, this is a serious problem.

    Well, i have never noticed anything of this kind.
    Are you sure it's not something related to your config/hardware/software/something?

    it's the same on both computers I play on. They have different hardware. Are you sure you've played aliens much lately? Any hivesight circles that are very distant at all is either not showing up or too small to see.

    I know exactly what you're talking about, and it's really annoying. On origin and mineshaft I notice the problem the most. I can figure it out if I point exactly at the structure, but it requires a couple seconds of scanning and that's dumb. And every time this happens I check my minimap and it doesn't tell me anything if no other aliens are in the room.

    I think the alien hud needs some tweaks, because right now it's difficult to respond to things quickly.

    OK.....to rephrase what he said....in 3....2...1...

    Hivesight sprites aren't appearing when an extremely far distance away from it.

    You might think this is no biggy, but when you hear structure is under attack and you're all the way across the map, it becomes a problem.

    If it is what I think it is, its a problem for everyone who has NS, not some hardware faults.

    I have this problem too. Also, why in the world does Hive Sight (F key for aliens) only make structures and aliens glow? Useless, yes?

    It WOULD be much more useful (and cooler) if it made marines glow. (Since it's the replacement for the flashlight AND makes sense in the story/world.)

    that used to be our focus, and i gotta say enhanced hive site did help finding people

    but free uber gamma hax for aliens seems a bit to strong
