Jetpack -> Heavy Armor -> Jetpack Bug

in combat mode
In combat mode, when you're the marines and you have a jetpack. Then let's say you want Heavy Armor instead, so you get two more levels and get heavy armor.

But then you relise you want the jetpack again, if you try and click on the jetpack upgrade again. Nothing happens.

If this is a bug that isn't already in the bug database then you should post it here instead: http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...hp?showforum=38

By design you are only allowed to purchase every upgrade once. When upgrade paths diverge (ie you either go Lerk or Fade after Gorge; you either go HMG or GL after Shotgun; or you go either JP or HA after Armor 2) you are free to change your mind and "go the other way" but even though you have upgraded in each direction you are not able to switch back and forth. The latest upgrade always overides the previous ones.

The idea that you could go back and re-purchase the other upgrade again is an interesting one, but with only 9 points per game to spend its usefullness would probably be trivial (HMG -> GL -> HMG or vice-versa being the only semi-practical application as it wouldn't cost too much EXP).

The other possibility, being able to switch at your discretion after you've purchased both a HMG and GL (for example) would probably radically alter gameplay in Combat. Even if you limited it so that the switch would only take place when you respawn (you have your GL out, click on the already purchased HMG upgrade, then when you spawn again you have your HMG) the change would probably require careful consideration before it could be implemented. And since we are at a feature-lock for 3.0 it's unlikely it will be tried.

Wow what a waste of levels. 2 for each - you basically spent 6 levels to get a jetpack.

I did that because I thought you could have a jetpack and heavy armor at the same time.

which you should be able to... IMO you should be able to "trade" one Level per... say 10 deaths? maybe you should make it timed based... trading levels once per 5 minutes?

An even better idea, you have to "sell" your upgrades by clicking on it (like your buying it)... then you can buy them, but you can only "Sell" or "Buy" once per life

Actually, just dropping a level and give up one upgrade would be nice. You would be paying one level so you would have to level up again to gain it.

Of course, that won't help for things like trying to go from lerk to onos with the current progression ... but then, that's a fubar progression anyhow. Locking down ppl to play lerks at lvl 3 is NOT nice.
