<div class="IPBDescription">Lag when lots of players gather</div> Hi,
I'm dealing with a realy realy and I mean REALY annoying lag issue. I play normally with 40 ping (cable) and usually join dutch/german/uk servers, with good pings 50<. But when lots of players join together in one tiny place, in a co_ map when the aliens camp at the CC or something like that and the marines spawn, I start lagging real bad! My choke goes up to 100 and my loss to 10 and my ping rises above 400! <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> This happens on all the servers I play on.. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Has anyone got a fix for this? Or is anyone dealing with the same bug/lag?!
Thx in advance

What you wana do it pop open the moniter tab and tell it to stop doing stuff.
I have a good pc, so my fps is 60 constantly.
And I've still got lag, even when I tried what Jasp said.
Fps: Frames per second: how fast your pc draws the game on your screen.
Lag is internet related, 3 main 'things'.
-Loss: Packages from the server to client which get 'lost', causes lag.
-Choke: Packages from client to server which get lost, causes lag.
-Ping: i'm not sure how this works, but it's displayed in MS (milliseconds).
I think this is about how long it takes for a certain package to travel between server and client.

By the way, i'm running on 100 fps constantly, owned. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Want to increase the graphics of your ns? pm me.
look at choke and loss (and possibly in/out but I don't know much bout those <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
and yes, ping = amount of time it take for a pkt to reach the server <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Hmmm, actually, I know from experience that your computer being not so good can cause lag. Latency is delay, the amount of time it takes your computer to send or recieve a packet to or from its destination. If your computer can't handle the amount of stuff a game is throwing at you it will cause your latency to go up. Lately I purchased a new computer to replace the one I had been using for about 5-6 years I saw a 20-30 ping decrease as a result.
AMD 2600+
256 Adata DDR 400 mhz memory
GF4 Ti 4200 (8x agp, 128mb)
Cable, 3000 kbit
It's just that I have lots of lag when lots of players gather! <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
ping can be affected by ONE Piece of hardware (well ok up to 3 actualy)
1) Modem (56K, Cable, ADSL)
2) NIC (Only if you are ussing an external modem)
3) Router (only if your ussing one)
NO OTHER piece of hardware can mess up your ping (well if you have 100ft of cat5 spooled in your basement it will mess it up also but thats different <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
There are certain programs that can mess with it (if you are running WinXP/2K and you have a dialup then make sure you have QOS Pkt scheduler disabled)
Ping is literaly the time it takes for your computer to send a packet to the server.
Faulty Network hardware MIGHT increase ping but that is probably b/c it is messing up choke/loss (Again, check those for us, would you?)
Odd, I know.. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
start--> settings --> Controll panel --> Networkconections --> Rclick Your networkconnection(what ever it is) --> Properties
in that menu there might be said qos pkt scheduler <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (uncheck it)
and Thx for the help <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
did it help?
I notice the same problem as him, only in crowded rooms in combat maps (maybe in ns and I haven't noticed). It never happened with 2.01 in WON.
Edit: Xstremo... your avatar... omg...
Anyway, what does the disabling of QOS do?
Basicaly it is designed to not swamp a slow connection by trying to send out pkts to fast. It will regulate the flow, however this just causes choke <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Note, I think I am basicaly wrong on that (exept for the choke factor <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

lol? you're basically wrong, means, that all you just posted there is crap? ^^
