<div class="IPBDescription">my opinion...</div> in many ways, NS3.0 is good
it keeps it's balance and most of it's style
also the new co_maps attracts more players
but there's one thing
more players=/=better(the DoD retail/v1.0 as an example)
as far as i've seen,
there're more n00bs than 2.0
Fine, we can still teach them play
but the problem is they play without teamwork
there're more player play NS just like they play CS,
all they want is just point at somethin and shoot!
I began playing NS mainly due to the style of "First-person strategy" which makes the players need team-working
but now i'm worrying about players brought by the new combat mode would rune NS just like DoD in the old times.....
(sorry guys, my english sux....)

NS and NSC
There, you can balance each seperatly w/o worrying about the other, but then you get a huge split in the community.

That would be bad, NS wouldn't get played by any new people at all.
That happens in your games of NS:C? <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Certainly happens in mine. :S
Surprising how many aliens don't think you can possibly be anywhere BUT your spawn, and merrily just walk into your LMG.
In Daimos I went 2-10 because the marines stuck together at the end of the long corridor next to their spawn.
Staying in base is a smart idea after all, considering the fact that focus-bite ambushes can be quite deadly.
Personally, I do not like Combat unless I am totally in the mood to not have a real game of ns. The most fun I have nowadays in ns is being commander and leading the team to victory. Nobody likes to do classic ns anymore, so I have to go play deathmatch on servers more often than not.
shutxdown kills so and so with bite.
Dead guy: WTH?
me: What? You were kind of obvious sitting there in the corner.
Dead guy: YEAH SO OBVIOUS YOU CAME STRAIGHT AT ME FROM AROUND THE CORNER.
me: Yeah, it's called scent of fear. Smart people use it now and then.
Seriously, I get 1/3 of my alien kills per game off of marines hiding in dark corners. They must not play aliens much, or must not know that aliens use scent of fear... or maybe I'm the only one that does.

How do you think NS is supposed to grow? Are experienced NS players supposed to bear children and initiate them so that when they are old enough to play NS they'll play as a team? Or should only certain individuals be allowed to play, because surely if you are limited by one viewpoint of FPS games (that of them simply being about pointing and shooting) you shouldn't be allowed exposure to a game that could change that viewpoint?
It is stupid to think that all new players should come prepared, already having grasped the concept of strategical and tactical play, already knowing that they have to work with other people in order to get the most out of the game. New palyers are just that - they are new. Some of them may actually come prepared knowing what to do in NS, knowing teamwork. But most of them will not, which has been the case in all previous versions of NS. NS is more different than the other mods that require teamwork - CS requires teamwork, but the environment of NS is radically different and the balance is not that obvious.
The new players that can grasp the concept of teamplay will grasp it in a matter of days or a few weeks. Those that can't grasp it will most likely quit the game. Those that do not quit the game will be singled out in the servers and will either be ridiculed until they leave or be kicked.
For the record, DoD wasn't ruined by the new influx of players. It isn't even correct to say that it was ever ruined at all. The development team can be accused of ruining the game. As for you playing on pubs, the ruined games are the result of a lack of administrative presence.
As for combat, there is team work in a combat game?!? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Even with the entire team being nothing but skulks with focus and Xeno, we still have half the team ramboing and dieing often. Only the more experienced players to the gaming community (as a whole, not just NS) move out together, keep each other's back covered and warn when they're being attacked from behind. Yes, lone rambos can be fairly useful (co_daimos, rambo with a JP and GL, welding the PGs open and making suicide runs on the hive.) If you do find a combat game full of good players and nearly everyone uses team work, then it becomes great fun. Like classic NS without the worry of never getting a SG from the commander ever again.
about the topic; give it time, and always try stimulating your cause in front of newish people
Lol Think about it...but wait...you don't use your brain in NS what makes the difference here? hehe im just joking. Every game needs you to think about everthin you will or will not do.
Solution: Put a CWAG on every server, two in fact, one for each team. Nubs run in fear.
In reality, yes, I'm having some issues with new players getting "stuck" in Combat. In fact, a friend I introduced in 2.0, but who doesn't play much, is now addicted to NS... Combat. Refuses to play Classic, since it's "too slow" (I can imagine what would have happened in, say, 1.04, lockdown style). I, though, am playing mostly Combat, but for practice, not for addiction... It is, however, an issue, since this time around, the CS kiddies won't go away, but they will continue screaming, flaming, cursing, and doing their homophobic, 8-year old bests to ruin everyone's day. Woe.
Solution: Be really good. Have them follow you around to leech exp. Only let them follow you if they use teamwork hax (I mean, c'mon, you did get your jetpack before them, right?) GG.
And, CWAG, sorry about not attacking the CC... There was only ONE heavy, and I wanted to eat him first. :-(
The only thing i worry about is when the ns team trys to make NS for XBOX like CS. or Retails NS.
