I think colour should be top of your list. I do like the light strips going up the stairs. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

if your looking for suggestions, i would suggest spot lights... one or two for the com chair area... i think would make it look a bit better...

    overall not too shabby.

Look a bit better? I've tried doing this method rather than the light_spot - but i'll give it ago if yous think i need more light

this is just a picture of the computer onthe wall - added a light and changed the computer textures

you could make that computer screen glow, 1 of 2 ways, you could texture light it... may look funny around the edges though... or you could but a point light right up next to it... patricularly a dark green/cyan color.

i still think you need a little more light around the comm chair. Either try adding an angled spot aiming at the chair, or try to add floor lights on either side of the chair on the platform that the chair is on...

just my opinion, you dont have to if you dont want to.. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

actually 3 ways, if the texture has an overlay texture...

don't know how to do overlays....

    well kinda...
first let me explain what the overlays are...

    here:

now if you understand the textlight concept, this will be easy...

    give the overlay texture lighting...

and then overlay the origional texture with the overlay texture.

like so.. (lemme get a screenie...)

    step 1
  • ShenTraXShenTraX Join Date: 2003-11-10 Member: 22434Members, Constellation
then shrink the overlay to 1 unit think... as thin as possible

    ex:
  • ShenTraXShenTraX Join Date: 2003-11-10 Member: 22434Members, Constellation
butt it up against the real texture

change the OVERLAY to a func_illusionay OR a Func_wall, but illusionay wont clip the play.. either way

the Render Mode shout be Additive
    and FXAmount 255...

    thanks but the over lay has several colours? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

well in the case of this texture i showed you above, you want to pick a color thats''' in between them, or you could just go with the cyan color, since the big cyan screens on either end may be giving off more light than the two small blue ones...

Trust me it'd work out great.

You can clip the overlay (Left screen, middle screens and right screen) and light the pieces seperately, I guess.
  • ShenTraXShenTraX Join Date: 2003-11-10 Member: 22434Members, Constellation
well yes you could, BUT you would have to chop the texture up within the WAD file before you could do that. Then assign each chopped texture its own lighting.

You can also put it in the original texture, I used this.
