I want to make the activated gate like the deactivated gate. It doesn't include
flare, light, and shimmering ground. I think that the related files are
muzzleflash1,2,3.spr, flare6.spr, nsteleport.spr, b_phasegate.mdl and
b_phasegate.qc and ref_phasegate.smd

I'm not sure that this would be a good idea to try and do. 1) the sprites deal, the only thing you could do is make them blank but they would still get loaded. the .smd's and qc file are for the model itself, to make it an mdl (im sure you knew) and wouldn't help make the activated like the deactivated. It would need to be hardcoded, i assume. So sorry, but this seems to be something you'll have to live with. How bad does it throw down your FPS?

I run ns with 30-40 fps when doing all the normal stuff. When theres umbra, spores, pg's, guns shooting everywhere (all the particle effects in the game all jammed into ur screen basicly) and skulks whizzing buy across the screen the fps can get very low. Its all those dam particle effects. phasegate. However, I do not know how to edit it to deactivated the light from the
P3 900 40gb HD 256 ram GeForce 2 mx400? something like that.. 1.5 asymetrical connection (aDSL)

You wont be able to download these (maybe a grey area), but to make them yourself:
-find the sprite of the phasegate flair
-make a new .txt file
- rename it to the sprite file (e.g. phase.spr)
-overwrite the old one
not done this myself,. might not work but i see no reason y it shouldnt
phasegate. However, I do not know how to edit it to deactivated the light from the
