Released in 1988, "Akira" was the brainchild of Katsuhiro Otomo, who directed the film and wrote the comic from which it stemmed. In the process, the biker must do battle with anti-government activists, greedy politicians and irresponsible scientists.

My little brother is going to go absolutely ape over this. Hopefully they won't have Jet Li walking around his knees like Dorf in order to make it...

As an aside, if we were in IRC right now, I'd make this my !setinfo.
I'm trying to figure out all these threads... Are you doing all this from work MonsE?
Seconded. Especially the salt part.
I just don't think it would have the same magic if it wasn't anime. I mean that's just part of the experience. It would probably just be flashy with dumb special effects (not to mention horrible child actors) otherwise.
and yeah, the current trend is for pg-13 movies, so I'm sure it would get completely censored.
It better be anime. It just wouldnt be the same. Imagine if they made Neon Genesis Evangelion into a series with real people? I wouldn't bother watching it
Well, at least it'll make for an entertaining read on mrcranky.com.

In answer to your question, what would be the point in remaking an anime movie...in anime?
As far as I can gather, they're going to use real people.
It had better be a bloody masterpiece.

Whoa boy there Coil, slow down. We don't want to waste innocent seasoning, do we? Try chemical weapons.
But I was just plain confused by it... and the fact that I seen it when I was about 13 did'nt help much eaither.
Looks like I'll have to rent it again.
Evil giant teddy bears. o.@
It was confusing, but probably not as confusing as it wouldn't been if it were translated to engrish.
