Grenade Problem?

About the pin...
Forgive me for referencing to CS...but in CS when you pull the pin, that grenade is active. If you die, the grenade falls out of your hand, and since the pin is not in the grenade, it activates, and explodes.

How come this doesn't happen in NS? I tested it with a friend to be sure. In a CO map, I killed him twice, got a grenade, and held down the trigger to get the pin out and hold it ready. Skulk came and chomped me, I drop the pinless grenade, it doesn't blow up. Is this an intended feature? Or something that was overlooked?

    lol.....

    NS grenade....

    explodes on throw....
    not when you drop

(sorry... just a really lame reference to M&M commericials... melts in your mouth not in your hand)

but in all seriousness though.....its probably something they overlooked.... the nade is still relatively new....

im purely guessing here but i think they made the hand grenade like the grenade launcher..... but 1 use only..... and since the grenade launcher doesnt have a "hold" position after pin pull..... the nade doesnt explode...

in short....what im trying to say is that the game probably recognize the TOSS as a shot from a grenade launcher..... all that animation / pin pulling is just extra delay

oh and im guessing this because the nade dmg and the GL dmg seems to be about the same....

Yeah, I think the game does treat it as a single use grenade launcher...I hope they change that soon.

The fact that the grenade and gl kill sprite is the same would confirm this.

I think you drop the nade when you get devoured, (Happened to me recently, primed a nade, got ate, and two seconds later I got a grenade kill. Plus I'm sure I read it in the changelogs somewhere), so I don't see why you couldn't drop it when you die normally. It's likely just a bug.

Well, afaik there is a limited number of weapons that you can have in the Half-life engine, so having the same gren launcher with two different models would save that weapon slot for other advancements. I'm fine with the way the grens are. Real grens don't explode on contact either, but they have a sci-fi explanation for that in the manual. I'm sure the gren becomes inactive when dropped in combat to keep soldiers from harming their teammates.

Kamikaze nade runs wouldn't be very nice...
You might think "Well, that's possible now, if you just throw the nade the brief moment before you die, surely?", but it's not the same thing.
Just about every time you die it will be to an alien that is within melee range, and the chances of that alien getting the primed nade on his head(==boom) are pretty high. When you throw it, the alien would just bite you and then run the heck away, or you would miss with it entirely.

Or, you would hit the alien right on the nose, but then it's not a kamikaze run anymore.

Yes, but it takes a long time to prime the grenade. It doesn't matter how advanced technology is. The grenade, with the pin out, will blow up, regardless of whether it was thrown or dropped. And it takes a long time to prime that grenade in game, so we're not gonna see many "I'm gonna die anyway, might as well go out with a bang" moves, since the person will likely die before the grenade is ready.

having a controlable fuse on the nades would help alot and would give marines thier own xenocide

Well, FF is typically off. If you're dead, who would the grenade hurt?

As far as I know, in RL... if you pull the pin on the grenade, it isn't active until you let go of something where the pin was... I'm not too sure seeing as I haven't used a grenade before...

In RL theres a little clip you have to release before it will explode (usually)

In NS i think it shoudl explode when you dorp ti cause ive died amny times to a skulk in the back right before i threw the nade.

Beta. Wich means things are being tested.

Yes, most grenades work with a little clip that releases when you let go of the grenade. So the grenade in NS should explode any time after you let go of it with the pin out. I hope they implement that in the end.

Funny i was thinking the ssame thing. When a skulk kills me after i primed the grenade I always thinks that ill take him down with me. But that never happense . It would be logical that the nade blows after u get killed.
