You use mp_serverops in your servers configuration file to set which SteamIDs should receive the serverop icon. For example:
    mp_serverop "STEAM_0:1:123;STEAM_0:1:452"

I think you might also need mp_uplink set to 1 in the configuration file.

However despite those settings it seems the server op icons do not work correctly, I've only seen them come up once but any other time they simply do not show. Albeit some of the people in my list have constellation icons but I guess constellation must override server op (silly order if that is so imo), but even for the other admins who don't have constellation/vet etc, their server op icon don't show either.

Anyone know what's up with that?

Edit: It's not a problem with mp_uplink being 0, as it's 1 and the vet/constellation icons do show for non-serverops in the server.

From what I understand, you need to type <b>AUTH</b> in console if it doesn't show up.

nope, when ever i type auth it actually turns auth off. Before ns 2.0 people used to have to type auth as it was auto off, now it is auto on

I think this was a problem in 2.01 as well - admin icons only appeared until mapchange. The solution was to use the ServerOps metamod plugin to force the icons to stay... it's available from modns.org, but needs updating for 3.0.

Except, AUTH is no longer a command in 3.0

I know it sounds stupid, but did u try changing nick when in game ?

I had problems in the past with a CS server under steam where AMX wouldn't recognize admins until they changed their name once or mapchange <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

veteran and constellation icons are shown properly.

server op icon disappears after the first mapchange and there is no way to bring it back apart from restarting the server.

    server: linux / 3.0 beta 2

ps: seems to be very common. the server just doesn't check for server ops after a map change.

The Serverops MetaMod Plugin from modns.org has been updated to 4.0 which is 3.0 Beta 2 compatible.

I just compiled and posted a linux build for it, it's available <a href='http://www.modns.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=64&st=60&#' target='_blank'>here</a>.

good job. unfortunately metamod is not really compatible with 3.0. you have to load metamod and plugins with start parameters of the server and those can't be changed that easiely on most rented servers.

i guess i will have to wait for a metamod update.

I don't know what you're talking about requiring to load plugins from the start paremeter. However, stock metmoad 1.17 is not compatible with NS beta in the sense that you need to specify which game dll to load at startup (not plugins...), and also you cannot drop catalyst packs in normal NS mode.

However. There is an updated metamod available at <a href='http://www.modns.org' target='_blank'>modns</a> which fixes these two issues. It is available <a href='http://www.modns.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=237' target='_blank'>here</a>.

There's an (unofficial) updated metamod at modns.org. It fixes the problems with catalyst packs and removes the need for +localinfo when running under 3.0.
