poll
ok! i was gonna start a poll but, apparntly not...
what do you think about combat?
1.it ownes, NS_maps should be gone
2.good break every now and then
3.i prefer NS_maps but CO_maps should be minimum
4.CO_maps should never had been put in
i myself think 4, co only gets rid of the merg between RTS and FPS. it attracts the people who only want deaths and it gets rid of a lot of the team play.
now, dont get me wrong on this, i think the concept of the map idea "D&D(Defend and Destroy)" which is combat, is a good one, but it just dosent go well with the way the game was made. Also, combat 24/7, its kinda extreme ppl, you dont have to use votemap every time a regular NS map comes on.
now, for the pro of combat.
The leveling up thing is pretty cool, you have to at least admit that, i myself was thinking that wouldent be a bad idea to put in regulat ns, the changes would be
only 3 levels
for marines,
upgrade damage by 5% (3Times)
upgrade armour by 5% (3Times)
get emmedat resupply (catalyst, fullhealth and full ammo)
for ailens,
have 2 Sensory upgrades
have 2 Movement upgrades
have 2 Defensive upgrades
upgrade damage by 5% (2Times)
upgrade maxH% by 5% (2Times)
upgrade armour by 5% (2Times)
so, what choice do you choose and why?
and dont get me wrong, im not indending to Bash anything, i request this be locked if a flamewar starts.

Well that was the idea behind combat, duuuh.
A lot of people don't like it, if you don't like it go and play ns_ maps.
Combat is a good mode for practice but it seems like its the only mode that people play D:
It's fun to drop in a combat round if you have fifteen minutes to spare and just want a quick game, but NS just won't be NS without the ns_

It's still fresh and new, so everyone wants to play it. After that "new feeling" wears off you'll see the interest in combat wear down.
I do have one problem with combat, however. Yesterday i found someone complaining that the game was bugged because when he died as a fade, he spawned as a skulk (was a normal ns_ map). Not really a major problem, but it's something to think about when new people are starting to play NS.
I think it's pretty nice to just bounce in sometimes when you don't want to concentrate that much and just kill some people. Also it's good to attract people to an empty server and switch to NS_map when it fills up.
At some level i like ns:combat (furious fights etc) but i think ns:regular > ns:combat because of the team effort to win the game, in combat single onos/marine can do the same. (obvious)
Thumbs up for combat from me though & my vote goes to
"2.good break every now and then"
nice avaitor Xcan, now i just gotta rember where iv seen that b4...
As for the whole 'CO will kill Classic' discussion, during the eariler Betas, we had big, big bugs in Classic, from the sort that kept you from ever completing a game before it crashed. Still, people kept playing Classic. I think that says something about its survivability.
By the way, has someone reliable data about how many people do indeed play each game mode? A quick glance at the server list shows that a good third of the servers are currently playing NS_ maps, which clearly shows that despite the attraction of the new, Classic is far from abandoned, but I'd be interested in more exact figures.
Oh, and ***moved.***

Absolutely. It's novel and it's new, it's a fun break from NS, and something that serves that purpose well. It's also intended to be a sort of crossover mode for new players, maybe drawing on some more of the CS-style players and getting them familiarized with the game and getting them interested in ns_. Not to mention it's played alot right now because 3.0 classic is currently one of the least fun builds I've played
Not only is a CO map fun AFTER a map of NS, but it helps us talk after we're done.
Our server is constantly full in the evenings, and we do not lack for players.

46 kills 14 deaths is a good ratio
It's definetely not going to be a main main thing because there isn't extreme tactics which NS is all about but its enjoying every now and then to keep your shizzle sharp
DONT REMOVE
Saying that, regualr NS will always be my favourite.
I also love the classic NS gameplay, the startegies required and what not. A balance of each map type is a good idea, like going ns co ns co, its not too annoying and you can get in some pretty good games, changing tactics at every map change.
(WHY CANT YOU JUST VOTE INSTEAD OF TALKING SUYF! AND TYPE A #!!!!)
I do have some mixed feelings about combat, too, though. It has definately made ns more popular, but I'm not all that sure its for the better. Guess only time will tell.
Frustrating at times, still a few kinks, yet, in all around FUN game.
At the heart of it, I'd rather play Classic, in the long run, but for now, Combat's my baby... Being a commander first, base guard second, I see little action, which puts me at a disadvantage when push comes to shove. At least, with Combat, I can get the practice I so desperately need.
