<div class="IPBDescription">He is!</div> Skulks have one thing which makes them speciall. Wall climbing. This gives them the advantige over pathetic marines. If a skulk has cloaking, or silence the marines dont stand a chance. I tried to compare all the other aliens and this is what I got...

Gorges: No chance, poor weapons and too slow.
Lerk: Flies and has good weapons, but in small spaces fat chance.
Fade: Too big, but his weapons turn over the cards.
Ono: TOOOOO Big! Cant hide anywhere, and cant go into some places on map...

    the onos might give u a bigger suprise when it is cloaked a closed corridor..

    I'm unfortunately inclined to agree about onos. Might be balanced for combat, but in regular ns, its as effective as a wet paper mache kitten.

    I solo'd an Onos in combat the other day...never done that before. I had heavy armor and a hmg...kept bunny hopping around him and gunned him down without taking more than a hit or two by gore. So I guess you're right about the problem with onos...I remember back in the 1.0 days, an onos was a sign of your inevitable doom.

    Onos involves a bit more strategy than just "Run into the marines head on and hope I don't die". The best strat for an onos IMO is to be sneaky. Try to sneak up as close as possible to the marine spawn as skulk, try and wait till the spawn empties out, gestate,and plow through the spawn yourself. It may not win the game, but it is a huge setback if you can cause enough damage.

    And that's the point. That doesn't meet with 'the character' of the Onos. It's <b>meant</b> to be a huge, rampaging death machine that people wet their pants over.

    Sneaky is not it's forte.

    In fact there are a lot of players who find it fun to cloak with the Onos and hide round corners unti someone runs into their mouth: even further from what it is meant to be used for. Perhaps removing the Onos' ability to cloak?

    The problem isn't that onos CAN be sneaky--it's that the onos HAS to be sneaky to survive. Aliens have almost zero endgame. No equivalent to HA+Siege.

    i've also noticed that you can still take down an onos with a level-2 hmg, got one on combat with a jp/hmg combo, 1 clip, dead onos, i think i had like 12 shots leftover also, and in 1.0, if there were onos, then there were 3 hives, which means your comm sucked <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> , in 2.0x/3.0, onos hardly do anything, in 3.0 they're much tougher however, alot harder to kill than the 1.0x and especially harder than the 2.0x onos, imo carapace should give em like 750 instead of 650 armor, and absorb 95% of damage like HA armor'
    and i agree redmonkey, its pathetic how many people complain that 'the new onos is too tough' or 'its too easy' or better yet, 'combat is unfair for marines, they cant win', and thats after playing a total of 3 combat games, whereas if you actually TRY and learn to play you'll find its balanced either way, though with some people i agree that some maps are easier for certain teams to win

    With celerity (even with no regen) That battle is eassy. Eat one, gore the other two, or run...

    Though if youu've been hit with elec from the rt you stand less of a chance.
