Whoa, Ive Got A Problem Here.

a file over 40 gigs?
Today I was getting ready install a new game, and I got the message that my HD was full, which is odd, im pretty sure im only using about 20 gigs of it. I go into C: and check properties, and it says that my HD is at 20/60 gigs, with 40 still free. This doesnt seem normal to me. Next I look around in add/remove programs to see if there is anything big I can get rid of.
In there I see a 40.3 gig program called 1001 Solitare Games, wich my mom had bough ~6 months ago, installed, and never really played. It said it was being used frequenty, dispite no one ever running it. I tried to remove it from there, but it said it coulndt locate the files to remove. So now im stuck, and not able to install anything else on my HD, because of this stupid game that thinks it need 40 gigs of space. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?
edit: Ad-ware, Sbybot S&D, Norton, and AVG all claim that there is nothing wrong anywhere on my computer, but I dont believe them

that or defrag.
I would suggest that the program was uninstalled some time ago and just didn't remove itself from the list of programs in the add/remove programs control panel. This happens alot and isn't normally something to worry about. However, if some other program is telling you that you are out of hard drive space then there could be other problems afoot.
Try running the diskcleanup program from Accessories/System Tools and then run a scandisk and defrag on the drive. These tasks will take some time, but could prevent the necessity of a full reformat.
On the other hand, reformatting could be the best thing you ever did. I recommend a full reformat and reinstall at least once a year, but most people don't have the sort of data backup policy that makes a reformat go smoothly.

Here:
You can try itIolo
Download it and try it out for 30 days, it's extremely neat. Use it's registry cleaning feature.
Hmm make sure that Windows isn't "Hiding" any files.
It does by default to stop... whats the word.... simpletons(?)
from going into the System folders and saying "Don't use that
anymore *DELETE*.... don't like the icon on boot.ini *DELETE*".
If all else fails then get a Disk Defrag on the go before you
go to sleep. If that doesn't help then you may be forced to
format you drive. Oh and remember to "have words" about
installing dodgy games. Get her to play Natural-Selection
is she's bored!
