    Press ALT+SHIFT to choose available windows keyboards.

    I don't think it would be that, since Counter-Strike doesn't accept the % sign and all other mods do...

    Ziggy is correct though, if I press my ö key I get a ; or if I hold shift a :... You just have to learn it by heart eventually. Took me 1 year(after figuring out WTH was going on when I was trying to turn on cheats in Quake after I saw my [older]brother do it- I'm great at trial and error.)...
    I was 10 or 12 at the time, and I'm 16 now, by the by...

    Meh, I figured it out in a few seconds. I have a Swedish keyboard, and I find myself using the american type when typing outside of NS sometimes. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    that only works for within windows.

    AFAIK it is not possible to change from the default US keyboard within WON HL. I will never be able to type £ or <Euro> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> in HL.

    OT: (?)
    If the keyboard is that old it may not have the appropriate button.

    Some keyboards have a dedicated Euro button by taking a bit off the shift key. (Ugh). Otherwise, Ctrl+Alt+2 should work.

    I spent some time trying to change keyboard settings in HL under both XP and 98; no luck. Not even character codes work. (But that is being a bit hopeful really. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    But it really works for me. I know it because Czech keyboard (i use normally) has swapped location of Y and Z. In HL configuration i had bound team galk to Z (which is between T and U on CZ keyboard), but when i launched HL it used english keyboard (which has Z between left shift and X) and by pressing SHIFT+ALT i changed windows settings which applied on HL too, so i had the Z on right place. It works in most of the games, not just in 'bare' windows.

    But still it is not possible to type some "special" things like ìšèøžýáíéùú and such in HL.

    bind u messagemode2
    bind y messagemode

    That makes it work for some reason.

    In fact I have to say.. after years of CS u get used to the fact that the ? is under _ z is y etc.
    Under Steam when u go to the ^-box the Keys ar normal. Only ingame there is that Problem.

    So id say we have to live with that....

    and u know -> It's not a bug. It's a feature. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
