Why it didnt get a 10:
It wasnt in an action pose
It wasnt shaded

Good job!

6/10

Lack of shading and looks flat. Not to mention lack of a really cool pose!

well, i lightly shaded it, it's hard to see.

As for an action pose, well that's coming.

I won't rate it with numbers, but I'll say it looks neat. I never did pixel art (and doubt that I could) so I'm always amazed by these little things. Good work.

Hey! Another pixel artist! Try visiting the pixelation forums, there's a great community of pixellers over there. That being said, i'll go into the actual crit'ing of the piece.

I think the details you drew into him are pretty good, although the pose is too rigid to really make it look kick ****. If you don't want to edit the pose much, an idea I can give you is to put the heavy into an attention position (as in the army kind of drills attention) and remove the hmg. Also, the HMG seems to be held in an awkward position.

As for the shading, I recommend to try to go for more contrast instead of less. At 1x view, the shading is really not apparent. It was still kinda difficult to discern it from a zoomed in view. Also, your colour management can really use some work I think. I used my handy dandy palette analyzer and I see that you're using 71 colours in it. Kinda overkill for pixel art. Also, a lot of the colours seem redundant to me because they're very close to each other in shades.

Personally, I don't see the need for miniscule pallettes in pixelart work, unless it is being developed for a specific medium with a limited pallette.

He's left handed, that's why it looks weird.

Since I'm a bad critic, consider it in the range of "good."

As not to start a new thread, i'm gonna semi-hijack this one with a bit of pixel art i was doing last night. The smoke from the cigarette was going to be animated, but i really just couldn't be bothered. This was originally intended to be my forum avatar, but i'm not too sure right now, i might redo the body.
