<div class="IPBDescription">Can´t take this anymore...</div> I tried every possible way to fix this problem, but no...I noticed some good FPS quides in here "Tech Support forum" but they didn´t work on me. It´s kind of hard to play with FPS 5, in huge battles it could drop to 1-2 <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

I´m not a noob in configs, i know allmost every possible command there is, but no results...

My computer is:

800 MHZ
768mb SDDRAM
ATI radeon 9200 PRO 256mb
Hard drive 30GB

Connection: DSL 1024/512 kb/s

If someone can help me, please do it! I don´t want to play if the FPS is like 5...or, if someone owns good configs, could you send them to me? e-mail is t_mahanen@hotmail.com, thanks!

    /me shakes head

    get a new CPU

    that much ram and the killer vid card can't help you much when its behind a bottle neck of an 800 meg cpu

    You CAN get better FPS then what you have (use the tweak guides and turn alot of your system recources down)

    HOWEVER:
    Halflife dosn't make particularly good use of ram/vidcards it relies way to heavily on the CPU.

    Also most newergames are gona chugalong if you have an 800meg cpu.

    As for asking for people to send you configs....
    What works on one comp isn't gona work on another.

    I COULD send you a cinfig that will get you good fps but thats simply b/c I can turn all of the gfx setting s to low <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Erm? My other machine is 700 MHZ and lot more crappier Video card etc...and the FPS is 99 in there? So, i don´t have to buy a new computer if i want a better FPS.

    And i looked the Quides, no use to me...

    Damn damn damn, It´s hell to play when FPS is 5 <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->

    if you can make a worse computer run at 99 fps then you should be able to get this one to.

    update drivers, make sure your ussing openGL mode

    lower your gfx settings.

    Oh, and you can get a worse computer to run NS at 99fps or other HL games? (seeing how as NS is horibly system intesive)

    Every HL mod works better in the other machine, but others game works fine in this computer.

    Even Counter-strike works better in the other comp <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I tried to update drivers, i?m using openGL mode...but no use.

    And the resolution thing, if i make it bigger, the FPS is better, and if i turn it lower, myt FPS is lower as well...that is weird huh? <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I had the same sort of set up when i started playing NS.

    I was using a 32MB ati card(can't remeber what) so i went out and got a ati 9000 128MB and guess what.......it never made a difference <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The problem was my soundcard, i would join a game with about 20fps and a normal ping of 80 and within a few minutes the fps would drop to 4-5 and my ping would climb to 400+

    I tried all the Tech support, drivers, settings, tweaks but nothing worked.

    Then someone suggested the soundcard and the way NS handles and plays sound. It needs an up to date soundcard, not just drivers. So i went and bought a new soundcard and it fixed everything and i got 70+ fpswithout any trouble <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Try this..........disable your sound card in the device manager and then go and play some NS........if everything plays fine then your problem is your soundcard and all the settings for your video card won't help i am afraid.
    You didn't say wether you was using win 98 or xp?
    My settings back then was
    AMD 900
    512 MB sdram
    20 GB HD
    ATI 9000 128MB
    ADSL connection
    Motherboard soundcard ---------> 4-5fps/ 400+ ping

    same settings but with a new soundblaster live soundcard -----. 70fps/ 80 ping

    laters

    Sorry about the double post but i have to say this.

    ----paranoid----, your´re were right. My FPS rised --> 5 to 99. So, looking for a new sound card now . <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Thanks!

    [EDIT]Hey BTW, do you know how to disable background sounds in NS? If you know any commands, please tell me.

    Sound card... huh I never knew that would play such a part in poor pings and FPS.

    Im sorry, I havent read all the posts at this topic, but try some other models, like some of the low-poly-ones...

    Sorry if youve already suggested this one.

    Only thing i need to know --> Is there commands that can disable NS sounds? Not the actually game sounds, i mean background music, steam sounds etc...

    I think that i don´t have to replace my sound card, just have to disable the sounds...

    That was kind of suprising, sounds can make your FPS go low. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    get a new monitor... set the refresh rate to 150 and your set.... my desktop comp has win xp and geforce 2 32mb gfx card ... fps never rose about 60.... tweaked my monitor and found out the refresh rate could not be boosted over 60 without my monitor blacking out.. now i have a new monitor and i get 150 fps.... so.. it worked for me.. might work for u

    and btw.. v-sync is evil

    To disable music in the backround type "cl_musicenabled 0" in your console. Hope that works, and ofcourse when you type it don`t use the "quotation marks"

    No, turning it off is.(If you got a radeon graphics card you can force triple buffering and vsync no longer hurts your framerate much.)
