Problem With The Gorg

<div class="IPBDescription">I can't kill the damn thing</div> The other day, i was on one of my stints of doing good (i seem to go in a cycle, good, very good, fantastic, crap, crap, crap, crap, getting frustrated at being in the game for 10 minutes and not one kill etc), and i was killing a lot of stuff. Skulk ran up behind me, killed it without being hit. Lerk up above spiking, killed it because it was unlucky enough to fly into a pipe.

I got the drop on a fade with a shotgun and killed it without much trouble. Then they had an onos, and i actually managed to taunt it onto a pack of 5 mines all in one place (onos trap basically) and shottied the rest of it's health away.

I was cocky. It always happens, happens to everyone. You do good, and you think that you'll ALWAYS do good. So i was ramboing quite a bit.

I came accross a gorg, and it pwnt me. I mean, OWNED. I didn't hit it once. Then it happened again, and again, and again (different gorg each time, so it wasn't some supah-leet player).

What the hell is it with me and gorges? I can't kill them! No matter what the situation, i just CAN'T KILL THE DAMN THINGS! They ALWAYS kill me, most of the time without web.

Does anyone else have trouble killing gorges?

P.S, the post starts out like a boasting thing. It isn't, trust me. A lot of you have seen me play, and you know the truth. Although i can be a very good player sometimes, that's overshadowed by the suckiness i display most of the time.

Know what your saying, still stuck on the 1.04 mentality of "Kill the Gorg at all costs", and yet I never kill the damn things.

I'll run after it, reload and the damn thing still kills me with healspray or whittles my health down and holds me off long enough to get his skulking teamates to finish my ****.

I know the feeling, mostly i dont have problems with gorgs though.
Just point and spray, remember to strafe to evade his spits, after ur lmg is depleted empty ur pistol = dead <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'>
Also its a good idea to notice the comm that ur about to kill a gorg, often they will medspamm cos they know how important it is to kill teh fatteh.

Also, knifing isnt a good idea, it runs as fast as you and it can spit. Just take ur time reloading ur lmg, if hes got company, kill them first (exept if its an <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'> or <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'> )

If possible try to sneak up on him, hide behind a corner or some building (alien or marine), walk so you dont alert him. Then when u think the time is right, JUMP OUT AND SHOOT LIKE CRAZY, usually they panic and freak out <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

Taking a 2-3 hive gorge alone is quite desperate, remember he has regen/cara and cele/adre. No dice

There is no universal law on how to kill gorgies, they move differently and fight differently, also ur own skills must be taken to notice. Just... point and spray, works for me

Gorges are pretty powerful combatants if you know what you're doing. I have killed a three man team with 2 HMGs and a shottie as a SC & DC 2 hive gorge. They walked into my mini WoL (4 OCs, 2 DCs, 1 SC). One kill was from the OCs, one from spit, and I healsprayed the last one to death when he jumped over my WoL.

A lone gorge shouldn't be that hard to kill, maybe you just need to improve your aim? There's no special technique to killing gorges =/ , its the same as killing everything else

That's just the thing, this is one of those times i was doing good. I had pistoled 2 leaping skulks out of the air in the same game.

Maybe i'm subconsciously stopping myself because i know there's nothing mroe annoying that morphing to gorg, only to her marine footsteps...

The gorge, like posted in this thread, can be very dangerous in the right hands, I've shot a jumping gorge along with 2 of my marine teammates and it killed 2 of us. I have good aim, there was green blood all over the wall, and it took 3 marines to kill it. Weird and sad eh? Oh and X_Stickman, get back into #occassus and #claneternity.

As a personal upgrade preference, I like to get Regen/Clerity when I gorge. This provides me with the mobility and staying power to take on marines, and the speed to run if I need to <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

My favourite tactic is to build a mini wall-o'-lame, 3-4 OC's then lure marines to them. Many marines think they can get an easy kill on a gorge. Heheheheh <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

I used to feel gorges were hard to kill, and then all of a sudden they became real easy. They can only take about 3/4 of an lmg clip, so if you don't miss your shots they die pretty fast (lmg takes about 3 seconds to unload) then if they are still alive by some miricacle, just pull out the pistol and finish them off as fast as possible. Because they take so much fire to kill they are really hard to kill if they get near a def chamber, so in that situation I either avoid them, or get a better gun, cause my lmg ain't doing it. I wonder, did you have ugrades? cause everything is easy to kill with full weapon ups, I reguarly lmg onos.

I have no trouble killing them most of the time, and love killing almost inocent creatures (yes I'm sick), but the thing I have had trouble with the most is a lerk. Back in 1.0 when I first started playing I couldn't kill them to save my life. Now I kill them sometimes, but still get pwnt most of the time.

I have problems killing gorges too.

The other day, though, I had a good gorge-hunt game. I kept in mind that the resource tower hitbox blocks a lot of shots on the gorge, so in the future try shooting the part of the gorge that is farthest away from the tower (therefore fewer shots will hit the RT). And dont forget the wonderful knife <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

This was what happened once...............

I had a shottie, sneak up behind a gorge, and pumped one direct round into the gorge. Nothing happened. I pumped another direct hit into the gorge. Still nothing happened, I pumped a third round into the gorge. It turned around and started hopping around like crazy while spitting, I died in 2 seconds.

Either Carapace just got beefed up, either I was dreaming that up, either spit does 50 dmg per hit or the gorge is cheating.

When I'm gorge, I usually get knifed to death. Basically, if you hear a gorge, let your comm know you'll be in need of health. I always use pistol first so, I unload my pistol, then my LMG. If you get close enough, do knife them though. But use the knife last if you're at a distance. Seriously, gorges do NOT run as fast as a marine. Marines ARE faster than gorges.

If the gorge can bhop he can escape you.
