Short Bus Moments.

Ya know....
Those moments that were perfect, but something or the other went wrong and made yall look like total morons.

Ns_nothing, marines were getting beat so we did a desperate strategy. We would seige powersilo so they'd be back down to one hive and we would have a chance. So for 6 minutes, we're keeping the aliens distracted on other parts of the map while the comm and a few rines make like 3 or 4 seiges. (Six minutes because we had MS res node only.) Well, everyone phases through, then on the count of three we rush into the hive and shoot whatever we see, the hive being first. Woulda worked, if Powersilo was one of their hives... >.< We ended up getting beat but were laughing at our own mistake.

I had one of those moments too. It was ns_nothing and i was comm, the game started 6 (marines) vs 3 (aliens) i think, so we reloced to generator room and took about 6-7 rts.

Well i though that it was gonna be a lame game with 6 vs 3 so i didnt even elec any of the rts and we had jps before weapon upgrade 1.

Suddenly i noticed that we were down to 1 rt and then i looked at the scoreboard. The teams were 9 vs 9

So i desperatly tried to upgrade and stuff but they had allready 2 hives and fades.

Fortunately some of my fellow clan members ruled with jp shotti and so they took down the hives

But anyways, that could have turned out very ugly, for us.

I am quite often a victim of relo to cargo and realise its their hive, just wrecks so many comms tactics.

You send a shotgun rush to the wrong hive...

After laying down the traditional 2IP & an Armory at the start of the game, I dropped a pack of mines on the ground only to be picked up by some non-CAL nub who put them in a doorway rather than around base structures. We capped 4 nodes on a romp to the alien hive, where we managed to catch them off guard spawn-camp them. However, one skulk won the game that day. He ran around the horribly placed mines in a heartbeat and ate base. I jumped out, but had nothing to cover myself with as the mines were 142141 miles away. With no com, medspam, or marine base, the aliens recovered and defeated us.

And people wonder why I'm bitter against crappy players.
    gg mines, nub.

    i've had that too
on ns_caged, i had reloced to double (and thereby won the originalest reloc of the year award) and aliens had vent for starter hive. people started saying "2 hives 2 hives!!11". i thought gen was the hive but sent my team to sewer just to lock it down. sewer was their hive
they took it down so it was a good decision with a better outcome than expected after all

also, dont you just hate it when you find out you havent built an obs yet when you want to make siege outpost somewhere.....and no phase tech....

I commed this one game months past in 1.04 on ns_caged. The team had done great and we had just taken the second hive with full upgrades (entire team with HA, 3/3+MT upgrades, everything). All this power went to the team's heads in what can only be described as the worst case of Big Gun Syndrome I had ever seen to this day, as the entire team wandered off alone or in pairs thinking they were unstoppable, but ended up all being taken out. Within five minutes, I had gone from 100+ surplus resource, two locked down hives, and a fully equipped team, to having six marines sitting in base asking for new stuff, one of the hives being gorge rushed with OCs, down to three RTs...

The alien players were feeling pretty good about themselves when the herd of pwnos came charging into the base.

And then the second wrong hive. And then you die, and lose the game. Yup.

Oh wait i remember the biggest laugh we had was gorge rush on MS at start of the game only to find out the rine team went the long way round and nailed our hive with SG's.

It was so dirty but the biggest pisser.

THe map was Veil, in the first few day after 2.0 came out. The marines were desperate, but we had res, so we got HMGs. We rush to Cargo hive and split into two groups, one to go in each door. Sadly, they group that went in the hive side door forgot that the hive was on their right, so they turned left and opened fire. The other group turns right and also opens fire. We were in tournament mode so that we could have FF on. To make matters worse, after we wre done annialating (spelling?) each other, the survivors discoverd that the aliens only had 2 hive, and cargo was not one of them.

in 1.04, i asked for a shotgun on ns_nancy saying to the comm "I'm good, i suppose". I hadn't really used the shotgun a lot before that (i tended to die first out of every squad.... still do), but i wanted to train myself up with it so i lied to the comm about it. Anyway, i got one, and i did *really* good. I held off a 5 skulk rush by myself (and then proceeded to hop around like a retard because i was very happy) without being bitten once. I think that was the only time i'd ever been accused of hacking in NS.

Anyway, i only died like, twice in the whole game, and when i did die i said "can i have a shotgun" and i got one, because the comm thought i was some kind of God with it. Well, we ended up as a dead team, the base was destroyed and the CC was being eaten. I had been away on some res-capping mission or something, so i started back to try and help out. I was in the room down the ramp to the right, with a door on both sides. He dropped a CC there and i started building...

I was in a very nervous mood, as you probably understand. I stopped building at every little creak and groan and aimed at the doors. Then i started building again, the cc was one bar off being completely built, and i heard a door open, so i span around and unloaded the last 3 shells of my shotgun into the door.

I'd aimed at the wrong god damned door. In me being nervous, and so close to completing the CC, i'd just reacted and shot a shut door. The skulk parasited me to death. I was really embarrased tbh, but we all had a good laugh over it.

Anyway, just goes to show you, whenever it seems i'm good, it's pure luck, and i'll soon embarrass myself.

I was comm on ns_nothing, and most good players (I know them, I play alot on that server) were stacking in alien team. My men were having a hard time, since they could not move out of marine base without being ambushed by 5+ skulks.

So all I could do was send someone out the other door to grab me some res nodes, which he did, so we ended up having 2 res towers (foreboding and power silo), the MS res tower had been taken out long before.

Now, that after about 4 minutes, the aliens had about 3-4 fades, that soon began to take down my precious electrified res towers.

At that point I just resigned and dropped about 8 shotguns in marine start, giving the comment "Enjoy your last stand".

What happened was that one of my players managed to unite all team members, and they did an organized shotgun rush on their hive, cargo. They killed about 4-5 aliens (no fades though) on their way, and when they arrived at cargo, it was almost completely empty (since the fades were off, somewhere on the other end of the map taking down my electrified rt's).

We took that hive down in less than 30 seconds, and since the aliens thought they had won already, they had no second hive, and they put sensory chambers down first (which is not bad, but they had no way to survive with their fades without defense chambers to drop another hive).

Any smart comm would know that mines alone will not defend a marine base, as any half decent alien just walks around them.

On ns_nothing, while fortifying gen, buddy and I get ambushed by a skulk and a gorge while I built pg and buddy covers. Chomp, chomp, chomp, buddy dies. I'm about to finish PG, so I continue building, bit once, PG done. I start jumpstrafing like nuts trying not to get bitten/hit again, while screaming into voicecomms to get backup. Emptied my pistol, bitten twice, switched to LMG, killed skulk. As my last bullets kills the spitting gorge, I managed to jumpstrafe into the pit. Backup + medpacks came half a second later.

Alright let's look at how stupid Funk is:

    1) Funk drops mines, and as a comm, decides not to tell the marines where to put the mines. Instead forgets to research 'Telepathy' and tries to communicate that way.

    2) The **** comm drops MORE mines even after seeing the first ones are in the wrong place. Again forgets he doesn't have the 'Telepathy' upgrade.

    3) Sees one IP isn't built. Doesn't order a marine to come build it. Instead lets it sit there so he can whine about it in the forums.

    4) Thinking that a marine was kind enough to come back, pry the mines off the wall, and place them around the structures, he gets out of the comm chair.

    5) Blames entire defeat not on his horrendous commanding skills, but on the one marine he personally gave the mines to and gave no orders to build the IP.

    6) Whines that there's no guns when he gets out of comm chair, and manages to blame it on a newbie at the same time! Wait, YOU ARE THE COMM YOU IDIOT.

    7) Comes to forums to try to make people think that he actually DIDN'T start playing last week.

Fuckapottamous, you're without a doubt the most elitiest, RETARDED, TERRIBLE comm I've ever seen actually try to call himself DECENT. At least most comms can admit that they suck. God you sound like KKK who can manage to blame the economy, the wrolds problems, and terrorism on blacks.

How I choose to use my time is for me to judge. I'm sorry if I offended you. Remember, my opinion doesn't invalidate yours. You can tell me what you think without telling me I'm wrong- it's not condusive to conversation. Realistically though, if I was truly so bad why waste the time trying to point out my faults? Just for kicks though, I'll bite:

    1) I drop mines and say "Drop them around structures." Nub runs off with them somewhere. Should I have clarified that I wanted them around marine structures??

    2) I didn't drop more mines. Nobody was around to pick them up. I wasn't going to get out, it would take too long and the marines needed me to baby them with medspam on the other side of the map. Besides, I certainly wasn't going to waste another 10 res so another nub (which wasn't around) could run off with the pack.

    3) I didn't see that the second IP wasn't built until the first one was killed. Perhaps in the future, I will try not to assume people have half a brain to fully build an IP. I shouldn't have to to baby marines through the most simple of tasks. Forgive me for having faith in their abilities. I certainly can't!

    4) What choice did I have? Res flow going to medspam to keep spawn-camping marines alive. All marines are in the hive anyway, can't relocate there and spawncamp, the nubs wern't good enough shooters to pull it off (hence the need for medspam). You're assuming quite a bit here, Ms. Cleo.

    5) See above, Celo.

    6) When did I whine there wern't any guns? Mines? Well, yes, that was the point. You already stated this.

    7) Oops, you caught me. I started venturing outside HAMPTONS last week . Big mistake, horrible players out there. I must admit, I am spoiled. Trying to command horrible marines in random pubs is quite an endeavor after playing those with skill.

Since you wish to know, I'll tell you why CAL matters more: The Veteran program. You don't see your average joe playtesting the next version do you? Well, of course there's the consties. However, putting them in the beta test is mearly and incentive to get people to sign up. NS would exist with or without pubs. Flayra started this project for himself, not the pubs. My rants about nubs and pubs are not meant to offend anyone, rather, they exist only to bring the sorry state of NS into the limelight- Crappy players are ruining the game. People are brushing this issue off, and failing to realize that it is a problem. I just happen to use more unorthodox and aggressive methods to enlighten people about the crappy pub players. The truth hurts.

I sound elitest? Good, I have succeeded. In all honesty though, it's no mistake that I'm elitest. I'm in a vet clan. Come play us k? I'll com. #integrity

Well first of all 'veteran' doesn't mean anything, since any schmuck can easilly join the 'veteran' program. It's not like it takes any skills to actually sign up for CAL (Which is why the name 'veteran' is a sad joke now). Crappy players are ruining the game? Maybe it's people like you that are too 'good' to help the crappy players NOT SUCK? Instead of actually helping this newbie, you belittle him, tell him he did everything wrong, and maybe even call for a ban? Way to give him a positive NS experience. He'll be sure to join the next game and not be totally **** off and hellbent on venting his frustration on the team.

I would've put mines around doorways too. Why? Because in a game last week I managed to kill 5 marines at once when they mined their buildings. I just hopped out of the vent, saw one spawning, another around the armory, two building the arms lab and one sitting on the TFac defending with a shotgun. Sat on a mine. BOOM.

BTW Just out of curiosity where the hell was the rest of your team? You blame EVERY SINGLE THING that went wrong in that game on that one player. What was this 2 v 2? I doubt it, you know you have 5 more marines to get things done... in the meantime I'm proud to be a 'non-CAL nub' who plays in a 'worthless pub' where we're actually considerate enough to discourage lamer practices like spawncamping.

BTW Sorry for the harsh nature of my earlier post :/

Spawncamping is never worthless. You are preventing the other team from expanding outside their spawn point (hive or marine start). This lets you grab more nodes, tech up, and damage the enemy's spawn mechanism (IP or hive). When a team is in the opposition's base, they usually kill the spawnin players while killing the hive/IP. If its only one player, hes buying time for the rest of his team to get in there and take down the hive.

    1) He states that all of his team is at the hive spawncamping.

    2) There's nothing wrong with spawncamping as solo. There IS something wrong with spawncamping as a group. Sometimes you HAVE to spawncamp to destroy the base: Just letting them spawn in the middle of the fight is stupid. But spawncamping without the intent of destroying the base is lame.

    3) Apparently one skulk had enough time to destroy the entire marine base including the comm chair and win the game before 4 or 5 marines gun down the hive.

Thus we conclude that the majority of his team was standing around the hive doing jack besides killing the aliens as the spawn. They could easilly have dealt 6k damage to the hive (Just 5 marines emptying one clip (which face it, is pretty damn fast) would kill over1/3rd of it) in less time then it took the skulk to chew the comm chair through.

Lamer - Doing whatever it takes to win by any means necessary, even by ruining the game for others. Hacking, cheating, exploiting, or standing around killing the other team for fun when you could easilly finish it...

The definition of spawn camping in my book is camping their spawn WHILE you kill thieir base/hive. As you kill structures, they spawn. Thus, you spawncamp them while you win.

This is what I did. I belive this type of spawncamping is not a lame. The goal is to finish the game as quickly as possible.

    Edit: I'm Funk. Wrong acct.

Neither do I, but even while spawncamping one skulk managed to destroy the base before his whole team could destroy the hive, so either that is not the case in his story, or he's not telling us the whole thing.

This is really getting no where. My original point was, Funk, if you're tired of people that don't know better "ruining NS" then why don't you freaking DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Enough of all the damn flaming, guys. This is clearly a funny sort of topic, and you have successfully killed it.

    Humourless asshats.

    Aaanyways.

Was playing on an extremely linear custom map, ns_marsoutpost (or something...) and aliens were kicking arse, and I was one of them. Gorging the rines just for fun. So after a while, they get HAs and blast us right back to the centre, and then had us pinned at our forward res node. So, after noticing that I've been stuck at 100 res for some time now, I go Onos. Get Adren... Cloak.. and.. *slip* Redemption. DAAJM! Time after time, I run, stomp, devour, gore gore gore gore, ruun back... and while I am around the corner, not even being shot at, I redeem. That was so frustrating.. Not to mention that two of the hives are high enough to take off a good 50-70 damage when you redeem. They pushed is right to our hives, until we xeno rushed them back, and then just bit them with skulks until 5 or 6 of us had enough to Onos. I, wisely, stayed skulk, to not look like such a fool.

I agree with one point during that flame war SuperTeflon V Funkapotamus aka [TMNT]Bebop.

But i must agree with Wolf you did wreck the topic.

Hey wolf do you bind your upgs? or did you slip with the mouse?

I find binding it slips less but i dunno thats just me.

Too often i find in the right click menu that i click the wrong thing thinking it was for the opposite team or i just hit the wrong thing.

It was with the mouse, I am just too lazy to bind and then get used to all the upgrade keys.
