128 Hud Sprites?

After several games of Natural Selection I get kicked out and error message and NS stops running. Have to use Win XP to shut it down cause its stops responding.

"Cannot allocate 128 HUD sprites"

System stats:

AMD Athlon XP 2700 (OC to 2.2ghz)
ATI Radeon 9700 128m (Already upgraded to 3.10 drivers) + (Have DirectX b)
Ram = 1g
Xgamer Live 5.1 Soundblaster

Using ver 2 of NS, If anyone can help me be appreciated. And I had this problem before using Cheating Death also..

    Search these forums for a temp fix. A better fix is to upgrade to steam, while you have have 256 hud sprites

    hmmm... I have already searched forums for this with no luck. And deleted and installed the MOD and did the vavle.rc thing with no luck.

    So you are saying for me not to have this problem anymore I have to install Steam? This would be kinda rude to make ppl install something that they choose not too, I have had WAY to many problems in past with that dam thing.
