    The alien HUD:
    Top right:  3 hive indicators.  These give the location and status of the hive (unbuilt, building, built, under attack).  The small icon next to each hive tell what upgrade chamber that hive allows the aliens to build.

    Below the hive indicators are the upgrade indicators.  These flash with a picture of the upgrade chamber when an upgrade is available; after upgrading, it shows what you have upgraded and what level it is (1, 2, or 3).

    It's just a random part of the level.  As it says <b>above the image</b>, you weld a certain area, and this causes a new passage into one of the hives to be blown out.

    In the previous RC screenshots, the phase gate looked pretty crappy imo. Now I don't know if in these screenshots its just a better picture, or they've been updated in game, but they look amazing.
    The only worry I have is a few of the screenshots are pretty cluttered with info. I'm sure it's really useful info though, I'll just have to get used to it.

    You know this from your extensive experience with using futuristic heavy armor?

    The main reason for the one-handed holding is due to some model limitations that would make it look very bad with two hands. You will get used to it, and come to love it as we have. We initially thought it looked a bit odd, but now it's just more indicative of how much of a toughguy the Heavy really is. As for the actual usage of a weapon one handed, as someone who spent 8 years in the Marine Corps, I can tell you that a normal person can fire most weapons (even as heavy as these types) one handed, if they are strong enough, albeit without much accuracy. So a huge servo-powered sci-fi armored battle suit should have no problem.

    I like the one-handed MG.
    My first thought was that the HMG was build into the Heavy Armor or at least attached/fixed to it. As long as the HeavyArmor has a unique ViewModel for it, everything is fine...

    Agreed, I think the 1 handed thing gives it a tough tank attitude look, like "I'm not afraid gonna extend my arm as far as possible so every bullet hits and your gibs!" kinda thing going on.

    I don't mind one-handedness on the HMG or GL, but I'd think it'd be kinda impractical to use just one hand on the pump shottie -- unless you can pump the thing like Arnie did in Terminator 2.  <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I haven't finished reading this thread, but I wanted to mention that the one-handed heavies <b>are</b> being changed.  I understand the logic behind the decision to try them this way, but it just doesn't look right.  DefOne and Cory are changing it.  Of course, the overlapping text will be changed as well.

    1 handed imho looks good on some of the guns.

    but it doesnt fit with the hmg, shotgun and possibly lmg

    but does fit with pistol and gren launcher
